So wife plugged in at charger to charge at 19% on a business trip. I started getting fault warning. Then after checking several times it was discharging. I messaged her and she could not get the plug out and was at 2% when she got it all disengaged.

Ford roadside says they need to take it to fix the battery but it really only needs a charge.

Has anyone has this kind of discharge event?

I think this is one of those times where you aren’t getting the whole story about what happened, and therefore this post doesn’t have enough details to make troubleshooting suggestions.

The battery doesn’t discharge unless you’re driving or something else is causing a sustained power draw for hours and hours to lose 17% charge like was suggested in your post.

I watched it on the Fordpass. She is having it towed.

Was this a fast charger, or L2? With L2 there is no way for it to discharge back through the connector because of the AC to DC converter. But it is possible the charger in the car had a fault that created a load. But if it was a DC fast charger it is possible that the charger malfunctioned and could become a load to the car battery.

That would be a malfunction that needs to be diagnosed and corrected.
Never heard of anything like that before. I suppose there is a first time for everything though. ?

If you have to attempt to charge it up, use L2. Do NOT DCFC again until the issue is corrected.

So first charger was a fast charger and it showed charging so she left it. Then every 5 minutes I got a message of a fault and it saying it stopped charging but I continued to watch the charge drop rapidly while I tried to reach her. When she got there it was 2%.
She then went to a L2 charger and charger it back to 30miles and tried to get it to a faster charger. But moving it only a few miles draining it she went back to charger but it would not charge.
Ford closed
Towing to another charger to retry.

Curious if roadside assistance covers the tow to another charger. I guess that's kinda like when they have to bring you gas.

Most of the time, my FordPass is showing the right data, but not always. Even if your car is sending accurate data, sometimes Ford’s servers are having an outage that affects FordPass.

She plugged it in backwards.

Understood but it was the reality when she got back to the car. Forecast for sending you warnings so she went back only to find a discharge.

Sounds like someone may have shorted the DC terminals of the charging head. I always check to make sure the pins are not damaged or have anything shorting them.

Some people are assholes.

Hi there. This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you with this fault warning concern on my end.
