How to get the dealer to give me a real estimate when I may get the MME.

Hello,
I need some advice on how to get results from the dealer I ordered my
MME from. Surely not as long as others have waited, but I’m on week 22 and no build date.

I have a priority of 10 assigned by the dealer and I have a “clean” status.

First off the dealer is very nice and professional. I want to point that out. The dealer is the ford store Morgan hill.

The break down seems to be between ford corporate and the dealership. When I phone in every month to check status it goes nowhere. They tell me they don’t know anymore than the reservation website shows.

What questions or statements do I need to raise with the dealer to get them to engadge with ford corporate and find a reasonable answer as to when a build date is prevalent.

thanks !

I would recommend sending them a deck of tarot cards. Maybe their crystal ball is broken.
On a more serious note, nobody can tell you. The orders are built in batches and depends on part availability. So it really depends on when Ford decides to schedule a week of premium AWD ER with ice blue exterior and white interior (or whatever you ordered). If ER batteries are running short, it may be a while. If their low on your paint color, it may depend on when the paint manufacturer ships them more. Also if you ordered something not many others are ordering, it could be a while before they make a batch of those.

I would say just be patient. I don't believe they have any way of providing more information than they already have. FSMH is one of the best in the area and Tim (Inventory Manager) has been really responsive. There are many factors involved when getting a build date, and those dates don't always hold true. It took me 27 weeks to get a build date, so just have patience.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've never had any problems, but I haven't spoken with him in a few months. Maybe things have changed.

You can try calling or chatting with Ford. They seem to have reliable data on build dates. Nobody can tell you when you will be scheduled. It just happens when it happens. The best you can hope for is to find out quickly after the scheduling.

A dealer cannot give you an exact time, they don't have that ability, Ford itself can't.

Those are all the factors that I can think of:-

1- Production Delays.
2- Chip Shortages during assembly time.
3- Shipping Delays.

I personally was affected with #1 and #3 on both of my Bronco and Mach E, all of my friends who I ordered a Mach E got affected with #1,3 as well.

I have chatted through the ford website and they relayed the same info I can see on the reservation website. Someone somewhere Knows what’s going on it’s just getting access to that person.
Don't know why you're so confident that there is some hidden information. We have years of data now showing that there is no rhyme or reason to build week assignment (as it relates to an individual order). Your dealer is commonly touted as one of the better ones, at some point you have to decide whether you want to accept/believe what they tell you or not. Bottom line, they do not know and corporate doesn't know (that we can tell). It will assign when it assigns.

If you go back to my original post, I’m not asking for an exact time. That’s unreasonable. What I am asking for is how to navigate the dealer and ford corporate to get a ballpark rather than a generic “ we don’t know “.
I did go through your original post, again, no one can give you a ballpark, it doesn't work like that, if you go to my post #1 production delay is what you fall under, now the best thing that might help you get some hope is to find out where do you stand in line on your dealer's queue for Mach E, then once you know that, find out how many allocations per month are they getting, then that would give you some time frame, obviously, the color of your car, the options you added all those play as a factor, even if you know all those answers, still no one can give you a date.

Once Ford sort out it's schedule they will give you a build week and you can start speculating from there.

For example, on my F150 list, I am #445, my dealer got 12 allocations for 2022, so based on that, I should get my F150 in 37 years, that could be an answer my dealer would give me, does it make sense? no! if they tell me that, I'd be pissed.

I keep trying to get hold of Tim but Im never Successful.

I’ve been extremely patient. I’m disappointed that I was told end of may 2022 or first week of June 2022, and still no build date or any indication that anything has changed.

I’m very reasonable. If they told me your order is delayed because of x, I would be far more understanding than hearing nothing at all.
And now you’ve kinda figured out why they’re so reluctant to give you an estimate.

They don’t know. No one knows. They previously gave you an estimate, and now that date has come and gone, and now you’re “disappointed.”

They could guess again for you, but unless it shows up “early,” you’ll just be disappointed again.

My car took almost exactly 6 months from order to delivery (April 2021 to October 2021). I’ve seen as fast as 3 months (December 2021 to Feb 2021)and as slow as 11 months.

My guess is 3-11 months. But basically, until you get a build date, the dates vary widely.

Then even after it’s built, it could be on chip hold, recall hold, it could get damaged in transport etc.

This is the problem with ordering cars and not having inventory on the lots. “It gets there when it gets there.”

Ford just is horrible at communicating. When my car was on order my dealer had zero visibility until it shipped. After that, they were mostly blind again. I am sure that internally, Ford Corporate communicates just as poorly as they do to us and our dealers. Oprerations and Manufacturing probably don’t give Customer Service much visibility. ??

I purchased an Explorer from TFSMH in January (great experience) and have a MME I ordered through them in December scheduled to arrive in mid-July.

While the purchase experience, of the Explorer, was the best car buying experience I’ve ever had, I will admit that their email/phone communications are lacking.

If you’re not far, maybe swing by in person and see if Tim can help?

@ElectrikPony I ordered my Select RWD SR in April. From watching / reading the forum I have found the following

1) Priority doesn't apply on the MME.
2) Trim does have some affect on how soon you'll get it - but doesn't seem to have a set pattern / schedule.
3) ER Battery orders are taking longer than SR
4) Orders are not built in the order they were received - there is some sort of formula based on trim, dealer overall business as well as scheduled allocation.

From watching the weekly build threads it appears they have been scheduling orders recently from December - Late February orders

A couple of people have reported their dealer can tell them how many MME orders are ahead of them for their particular dealer - but again the other items listed above could affect that.

I don't think that there is anyone at Ford Corporate that could give you any more of an update as I get the impression that each week (Thursday/Friday) they go into the schedule and click "schedule batch" and the system picks the orders that match to parts availability etc

Sorry we can't help you get a better answer

Nope. I waited 50 weeks, 4 days. You assume much, but you're wrong.

I believe you think this is a reasonable request. However, the supply chain, labor, and logistics problems that manufacturers are dealing with are unprecedented and that means that their production planning is not as orderly as you imagine. Suppliers that have been reliable for decades are missing by miles.

A "ballpark" is the current average queue of weeks. You can get a feel for that in this forum, but as is stated in the thread above it depends a lot on the parts availability for your cars BOM (Bill of Materials). It is not as simple as first in - first out. Sorry.

yeah I think being in person gets you the priority vs email/phone. I’m going to swing down. Im in San Jose so Morgan hill is 22 mins away. Not far at all.
I think what you don't understand is that people are waiting for more than several months. I am currently on month 10 waiting on my Maverick. There are people that have waited a year. I am supposed to get a Mach E any day now that was dealer ordered in April so chances are you won't have a terribly long wait. You will probably have your Mach before I get my Mav, lol. If you are a priority 10, you are not next in line at your dealership. You have to be a Priority 2 to be in line. I've been a 2 since February and still no luck because I went through a very small dealership (my mistake).
The whole industry is changing and we have to just play along.
