Well that was my first thought also, but at this rate it might be a few years before that happens. It doesnt hack the car, just gives you another CarPlay that can play other apps, road trip coming up and would be nice for charge waiting.

I bought this one a few days ago and LOVE IT. Has a SIM slot and I just inserted my extra T-Mobile Sim card (they gave me a free line for having 2 lines) and it works lovely!

Yes it does, but may be illegal in some states. Id just like to use when charging on a trip.

This one’s more expensive because it’s the latest model that has capacity for a Sim card. The cheaper models you have to use your phone as a hotspot with Wi-Fi.

I had that older Wi-Fi only model and it worked fine. If you have a good cell service by all means that would work perfectly.

Yeah I’m Not paying for another line (SIM card) just to use this a few times, I’m fine with wifi connection. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure its not just a carplay adaptor but also but add/run youtube Netflix etc.

That's nothing nore then wireless carplay which we already have.

Just for clarification, you should e to plug this in right? It’s not wireless like the phone right? I’m wondering if I can just plug it in to the center console and leave it there.

The $100-$150 models are just a wireless adapter for vehicles that only have wired CarPlay. The $300 models have a hacked CarPlay version on a mini android computer. You plug it in to your USB port and connect it to your hotspot or insert a sim into it. Then you connect your phone to the box by Bluetooth or WiFi.

I have the one in the link below and I love it. I regularly use prime video, Netflix, HBO Go and YouTube. You can use all of these wile parked or in motion. Your passenger can watch videos while you drive. I purchased a phone mount (link also below) so I can use Waze on my phone while my wife watches a video on a long drive
