I saw this video on TikTok about a lady complaining that a man did not want to wait while she charged to 100%. I am not sure if this is a Tesla or some other car, but I went through a few emotions while watching this. and reading the comments.

First, I was bothered by the lady for charging past 80% when there were others waiting. However, if she needed 100% for her driving needs, is this expected behavior?

Her general attitude and video comments bothered me more than the man harping on his wait time, however, we only see the edited portion of the video. Plus, the man did say some things he shouldn't have. I would think common courtesy dictates the lady leave at 80% since someone is waiting. The comments section on that video skew towards the lady being wronged by the man.

I know, TikTok can be a wasteland. Just thought I would share...

you have every right to charge to 100%. You've waited your turn. Unlike the MachE, most EV don't charge much slower at the limit. Slower, yes, but not super slow like our MME.

This lady is a delivery driver and drives a Kia Niro. That is a 50 kW Shell Recharge DCFC located by Boston Logan airport. It's FREE. She says she drives around until down to 15%/30mi before recharging fully. So she's trying to mooch as much free juice as she can.

Some may not agree, but I think she's a charger hog and the guy was justified asking her to move if he was waiting. She's not on a trip, she can leave at 80% and continue her local deliveries or go home and return again. She's actually wasting more time by going all the way to 100%. And especially if people are waiting to use the DCFC it's rude to charge to 100% unless you absolutely have to. Sounds like she doesn't have a charger at home (probably because she would have to pay for electricity then). If she had a charger at home she could be at 100% every morning instead of clogging up the local DCFC every night.

The above situation is why I'm actually not a fan of free DCFC. It attracts charger hogs.

That’s been fixed with updates

With the new curve, I don’t feel bad at all charging past 80%, especially if my destination doesn’t have an L2
