When I got into the car this morning I noticed a new icon on the SYNC screen top bar and clicked it for it to tell me a software update was installed but no further information. I have scheduled and automatic updates turned off so I was confused on why it was installed at all. Looking at the Ford Pass app says nothing, and clicking the software update screen on SYNC shows nothing new besides the no new updates available text. I didn’t see any warnings on the screen that something would be installed when driving yesterday either. Although I don’t know how to read all the data I took screenshots from the iOS widget in case that is helpful, or a way for me to 100% prevent an unknown update in the future. On the Advanced Info of the widget it says SYNC version 4.0.22082.

Likely the safety recall update we've seen start to show up. Pretty sure since its a safety recall they can push it to the car without your consent.

Probably a glitch, no OTAs have been pushed to you yet.

Darn, just posted to wrong thread by accident when I had too many tabs open, embarrassing. I had brought my car into the dealership for module updates in mid-July after giving my VIN to Mike G, and after the service he checked again and no items were listed. Out of curiosity I wonder if I should post my VIN again to him to see if something changed, but I guess if an update was sent it wouldn't show up anyway.

Is there a reason you have OTA updates turned off? Most people are begging for as many updates as possible and express sadness when they don't have the "latest".

I had it turned off for the reason of knowing what was going to be installed ahead of time. For reasons such as today with having no idea what was done, if anything, or a glitch like suggested by Mach-Lee.

I hadn't considered that I may be hamstringing my updates with turning it off so I will switch it back on when I get to the car.

Agree. Likely some glitch. OTAs don't install without your permission. Especially the recall OTA because that one requires your car to be immobilized for a period of time. Ford wouldn't push that one to you without your consent.

I posted the process that occurs with Auto Update turned off in case you are curious.

You are fine. You aren't doing anything to hamstring anything. OTAs occur just the same whether you have Auto Updates turned on or off. Makes no difference except the manual method appears to have a few more steps. It is pretty simple though, the programmers wrote all the step-by-step screens to walk you right through the process. Really quite easy and IMO, better than the automatic method. At least for me anyway....

I saw the little update icon in the bar as well today. it was right after I activated Alexa to make it go away. I assumed that was the reason.

I read in a thread that if you activate Alexa you can remove that icon. I was given a fire tablet a long time ago so I know I have an Alexa account. I will login and see if I can remove it that way.

Had the same thing in my 2022 GTPE today, little icon saying update installed successfully but no details, no info.
I know for a fact I was up to date and the latest recall was done at dealer prior to delivery.

Kinda odd
Don't your BlueCruise maps get updated once or twice a year? Maybe that was the update you received? If I remember correctly.....there is something in Sync screen that says when your maps expire. Check that and see.

Mine says Oct something (even though BC doesn't work for me...)

That is correct
Cool. I don't think you are missing anything there.

Not sure what OTA you received. Maybe a glitch?
I once got a weird OTA but it had notes. Something about an updated owners manual if I remember correctly....
