OTA installed with no notification

After being on 2.7.4 since June I randomly check the Software update screen in the vehicle. The other day I noticed it said latest update was 2.8.1. The weird thing is I never received the the downloaded or installed update icon on the top of the sync screen nor did I receive any notification of the update in Fordpass. Has anyone else ever had this happen before?

This morning I checked the update screen and the 2.8.1 details are now gone and it simply says "Your system is up to date". So what does that mean?

It means you got 2.8.1 as you noted. The update notifications go away. Up to date is basically meaningless, it means you have no more queued updates, it does not mean you have all the possible updates that exist.

The fact is that your car got an update which you didn't notice for a while.
