It’s never easy to see your car being towed away. Especially when it’s for a stupid reason like a simple flat tire. I know a lot of new vehicles don’t have spare tires these days (I’ve owned a couple that don’t) and it’s always a pain when this happens.

I had a screw in a tire about 2 months into ownership. I pumped up the tire and drove it to a shop to patch. First shop (big local tire shop) wouldn’t touch my car for fear of damaging the battery. Second shop (small mom and pop store) saw the arrows, took my lift picks, and went to work saying, “arrows, just like Tesla.” ??

Was yours damaged to the point that you couldn’t pump it back up? ??

I had similar, picked up a nail, reflated, but I brought into a big chain (good reviews, have used previously) this was back in the spring, they were great and the guy said "your car is awesome, it was our first MME, and the tire repair is on us!"

I need to stop reading this thread - I'm getting worried for my tires! ?

Brayden, I hope your tire repair goes smoothly.

I had it towed the the dealership I have gotten all my services at for the past few years (not where I got the MME from) and it’s a nail in the side wall.
I did indeed use the pump in the trunk to try and reinflate the tire enough to drive it but no luck. The air was leaking out as fast as the pump could put it in. On top of it all, the dealer doesn’t have the tire in stock but should be able to get one today or in the morning.

Bummer it’s in the sidewall. That’s such a waste of a new tire. ☹?

I previously picked up a large hole in my tire and on first use of the fix-a-flat, was annoyed as it did not seem to work and air was still leaking. One of my coworkers re-emphasized the instructions to me, which is inflate the tire with the goo, drive a few miles and then re-inflate/check the tire. The sealant did need to slosh throughout the tire in order to seal.

On discussion/thought of the fix-a-flat vs a spare tire, I will take the fix-a-flat. These tires are torqued to 150ft-lbs. I had to get my breaker bar off to get the lug nuts loose - no way my wife is able to break these and small chance I can with a "back of the car kit"

Perfectly correct, but a can of sealant probably won’t get to a sidewall since the sealant relies on gravity to work it into the puncture and the likelihood of a sidewall puncture getting full coverage isn’t great since it’s not on the tread. ??

Welp, this thread just made me order a tire plug kit. :( Also, I don't want to carry around a full toolbox so got a SOG multitool with enough tools to remove any offending staples, nails, or screws (fingers crossed).

I've had one sidewall puncture before and it is so baffling how that happens. It was a 2" lag bolt! It's as if I was tokyo drifting sideways into an unfinished housing frame or something. Bizarre.

To use the rubber plug to plug a puncture it would be a whole lot easier with the tire off ground but MME does have any jack. That got me thinking of getting one.
