I was hoping to ask someone with more knowledge about this process. I ordered my mach e last week with no reservation. I understand it will be here much later than the dealer thinks. I am concerned I could be one of the first ones to order from this dealer and they don't have alot of experience with this process. My question is should my order show as accepted on the ford reservation page? I asked the dealer this and the salesperson's gm said everything looks good on their end and was sent to the factory. It looks like everything else they direct order from the factory. He also thinks it will never change to accepted. I just want to make sure they have it ordered and I dont see much info on orders that are placed later in this process. Thanks for any help.

The very last line says "order accepted".

This. Excellent advice.

Ford has worked wonders in just getting things started up again given the worldwide supply chain disruptions. They've actually made up some ground as well but we can't roll back the clocks completely. Look at late December deliveries as the equivalent of late September deliveries pre-pandemic. It's not that far off normal in that light.

It's worse in other manufacturing areas. I have 10 acres to mow and tend, I can't get a compact tractor or riding mower. I can't get a trailer to haul them in for maintenance. The dealers have nothing in stock and have no clue when any new stock is arriving. And used? Prices are higher in some cases than new ones. The dealers point to manufacturers, manufacturers point to parts suppliers, parts suppliers point to sub-component suppliers. On and on it rolls and will continue to do so unless SARS-COV-2 mutates out of existence or a widespread and effective vaccine is in place.

Take the car and enjoy being on the leading edge of a new and exciting part of the electric revolution. The tax credit will still be around all of next year. The rest of us are waiting for your delivery pictures and experiences.
THIS. ?

Please read my post on this. I ordered my car on October 12th at the dealer. I had no prior reservation like most on this forum had. I was told not to expect my car until April to June 2021 timeline. My dealer told me all along he thought I’d get my car in January or February 2021 and possibly December 2020. Well the dealer called me yesterday and told me it looked like it would be produced the week of December 7th!! I could see the car later that month and have a 2020 delivery. Don’t believe all that everyone tells you about this process.

Good luck!

Thanks for positive outlook. I was told same time frame from my dealer (early'21) and I would be one of the first cars the dealer would get. We will see what happens.

Sounds like the priority code trumps reservation. It makes at least a little bit of sense for the dealer to leave the priority at 19 for those that the dealer had to agree to returning the deposit if not happy with the vehicle, no ADM, A or Z plan with lower margins, etc...

on the plus side, once scheduled it shouldn't be pushed back...
That would contradict what my dealer told me that Ford isn’t using Priority Codes for MME because it’s a commodity constrained vehicle. They’re giving dealers allocations and scheduling those allocations. That’s how it was explained to me. You order, get put into an allocation, then get scheduled. Sounds almost like virtual queues and boarding groups for RotR at SW:GE (Disney humor)

Don't believe everything that your car salesman says. Did you get an email from Ford or can you see that December 7th build date for yourself?

I apologize if I asked a stupid question. But there isn't a green check mark by order accepted like there is on order submitted.
Yes, there should be a green check mark next to "Order Accepted". Since there isn't, it means your order hasn't actually accepted it in their system yet. If they don't accept it within 7 days, it will get kicked back to you.

Thanks for the reply, I was afraid of that. Should I reach out to the dealership again? Is there a ford helpline number I can call?

I said it would be produced week of December 7th OR December 14th and I just confirmed it’s week of December 14th. No VIN yet but I’m waiting for a call this morning. The dealer told me on October 12, 2020 (the day I ordered the car with the Ford X-Plan) that I’d have my car produced EITHER week of December 7th OR December 14th so he was much more accurate then the predictions on this forum.

Yeah, just reach out to the dealer. They didn't accept mine until I called them even though they called me the day after I ordered to confirm it. I don't understand their difficulty in accepting my money.

Yeah, call your dealer. After mine said they accepted it, I didn't actually see the green check mark for a couple of days.

Did your dealer show you anything official from Ford or is it just verbal at this point?

Something is not right with all of this.
Agreed and I look forward to looking over the data in the tracking sheet:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/submitted-orders-tracking-list-and-stats-enter-yours.924/
Everyone please make sure to enter your build date information there! That will help us understand what is happening with build orders and why many of our build dates are so out of whack with the priority we perceived from our reservation order.

That said, let's keep some things in mind:
  • COVID-19 has messed with all of Ford's planning. They also had to move back production by a few months. Despite that, they still will start deliveries in 2020.
  • EU/UK cars: Remember, they had a grand plan for simultaneous deliveries to North American and the EU/UK. Now it looks like some big buyers (fleet purchases for leasing companies in the Netherlands for example) are getting priority and some EU cars are being made in 2020. It also looks like they are starting to interleave EU/UK orders into the build sequence rather than maximizing NA deliveries. Considering they had to finalize orders early, that makes sense.
  • Canadian cars: Many buyers have promised build dates. It looks like these are at the early end of production as well. Again, their system was different from the US and they had to pre-order from the start.
  • Models and order have changed. No, Ford has never officially said they were moving the First Editions later but did change the website to now show all non-GT models starting delivery in late 2020.
  • Ford has to make the line as efficient as possible. That means mixing up the models. ER vs SR, AWD vs RWD, glass roof vs solid roof (glass roofs make it easier to drop in parts from above, adding the glass late in the line.
  • Ford always said dealers would get demos for us to drive before are cars arrive. While that may not work for every dealer (especially Hawaii!) but generally I think FCTP will start arriving in December as Ford promised. They will probably arrive before customer cars.
  • I'm sure there is appeasement of big fleet buyers, early delivery for employee leases, and sweetheart deals within the organization. That happens in business. It's business after all.
  • So far it looks like Ford is scheduling the First Editions in this first run and making sure all existing orders are run early.
Yeah, the build order sucks for some of us while others feel amazingly blessed to get an early date (you damn well better! :)).

I'm frustrated to see reservation and order play essentially no role in scheduling within this build run and even more frustrated to have a first day reservation, first day order conversion, and mid-December build for a First Edition. However, keep in mind, it still looks like Ford is keeping First Editions and early reservations among the first delivered, just not the VERY FIRST.

Now, let's get to the bottom of this mess while we wait for delivery!
