Emergency braking assist would have a “Pre Collision” Alert with flashing red on the display and an aural tone, before any brakes are applied.
Which is why I said "/ACC system". The OP didn't specifically say if that was the case so I covered both.

Only issues I've had with this system is that it can read speed signs from way too far away, like at the weigh stations for semis, it will change speed to 45, but no a huge deal cause I'll just cancel and start back over

I used the "intelligent" cruise control (think they change the name of it now though) for the first month or two that I owned my car. I QUICKLY discovered that the system is awful. I was on the 94 the other day and noticed the car was detecting speed all wonky. I drive this freeway every single day, no reason for it to be doing it. As you can see the "posted" speed changed many times in a matter of a few miles. It would also black out the speed for a while and would go back to 5mph or 20mph. I don't think the system stopped messing up for about another 20ish miles.

For giggles I turned on intelligent cruise just to see if it would slow me down, sure enough was doing 78 and it changed to 35... While it did brake, it was not aggressive seat belt lock braking, but it was enough where if someone was behind me they would not be too happy.

Would not recommend using the system...
I generally leave speed sign recognition off and never use it on the highway. But I do use it when on a road trip on state roads that go through town after town. The speed limit constantly switches between 55mph and 35mph, so the automation is nice in that scenario.

Phantom braking caused by the system sensing things that are not there is why I got rid of my Mercedes several years ago. It was so bad it sometimes prevented me from driving the vehicle. My MME has never exhibited this sort of behavior.

I've had the MME do it, I think twice, in the 24k miles I've driven. It happens in the MME but not at all like I've had it happen with previous vehicles (other mfgs.).

Honestly, after years of it happening frequently I've become numb to it. My reaction time is quick to press the accelerator when it happens which gets the system back on track.

Where I had an issue was I was behind a slower vehicle in a 65 mph zone, ICC programmed at 69. I turned off an exit and the speed shot up to 69 like a rocket in a 30 mph yellow speed sign zone the ICC didn’t recognize. The exit had a short runway.

I’ve had this experience twice, and both times, I was on the highway, there was a truck to my right, but we were on a curve. I think at some point the Mach-E thought the truck—following left on the curve but slightly ahead of me—was suddenly an obstacle in front of me. Scared me when it happened, but I noodled it through and realized why it did it.

At least your cruise control works. Ours constantly shuts down and the car immediately begins regenerative braking. Hopefully the new parts fix it.

Not to take anything away from this poster or question their experience but I have had no problems with my ICC and sign detection. I did have an issue once using adaptive cruise control where I shouldn’t have - on an on ramp. In that case the car began to accelerate back to highway speed once the car ahead of me entered traffic after yielding. This is exactly what the system is designed to do, and wouldn’t have happened if I had manually applied the brake as I should have.

I mean.... I have pictures... You can see I'm on an open freeway, not sure what to question lol.

100% someone else complained about the same thing in this post. Got behind a slow car, went to an exit ramp and the car accelerated instantly.. Umm ya, that is what its supposed to do... Someone else on the forum complained about using ICC at a red light. The car in front of them turned and their car tried to do 0-65 in 4 seconds right through a red light. Once again, what its supposed to do...

The system is just buggy. I'm fully aware of how it works, I have 23k on my car so far a little over a year of ownership. I like the idea of the "intelligent" system, its just not up to snuff. I learned its quirks around my local area and just worked around it. Then I was on a road trip to Anaheim on the 5 and the car changed the speed to 20mph 3 times. After the third time I shut the system off and I've not used it again.

There is zero reason as to why the car allows the cruise control to be at 80mph then be like "OH WAIT ITS 5MPH NOW!!! LETS BRAKE CHECK THE GUY BEHIND US!!!" It should not allow that to happen on freeways. There should be some delta range, if the speed drops X percentage than do nothing, or maybe ding and blink the speed limit or something.

I was driving 72mph in a 70mph zone with adaptive cruise engaged on a divided highway. Things were going well until I started to pass a semi in a clear lane for more than a mile with the semi going 70mph. When the car reached the area of the tractor just forward of the rear wheels, the adaptive cruise suddenly slowed the car to 60mph or less throwing my wife and I against locked shoulder straps. The accident would have occurred as a car approaching from behind going likely 80mph had it not been for the other drive being able to brake in time to avoid a collision. I hit the brake on the Mach E so I did not know how the car would have acted after the sudden slowdown.

I wondered if it was a fluke or something that happens frequently. I kept adaptive cruise engaged most of my 240 mile trip. I noticed small speed adjustments that had I not known to watch for it likely would have gone unnoticed to events similar to the first slowdown. Though my analysis is not scientific I did seem to note the more sudden changes in speed occur when passing a semi with exposed fuel tanks. When passing semis with fiberglass running from the front wheel all the way passed the fuel tanks, the slowdown did not occur.

This problem is beyond annoyance. It is dangerous as any following vehicle has to react to the Mach E's sudden and significant reduction in speed.
I have had a similar thing but only reversed multiple times in 1 trip. I was driving with adaptive cruise control activated and all of a sudden it recognized a speed sign (which wasn't there). I was cruising at 120 km/h and all of a sudden it changed to 150km/h. This happened multiple times that trip and was also quite dangerous as it was every time really unexpected.. Not even talking about the fines I would get driving 30km/h over the speed limit..

That is indeed the official Ford account on this site, it’s legit and safe to use on here.

Do you have access to the Ford Twitter account? I can send you information there or you will need to provide me more information so I can be ascertained of who you are.

You should disable cruise as you begin to exit.

I also have turned speed sign recognition off. It is especially annoying when driving on the toll lanes that have a higher speed limit compared with the non-toll lanes. Every time I pass a speed limit sign that is in the non-toll lanes, the car slows down. So basically very couple minutes or so.

I have never had the phantom braking problem and I use adaptive cruise all the time, almost every time I drive the car (because I cannot control my lead foot). After seeing this thread I will definitely be alert for it.
