When I first read this, I suspected the seatbelt recall. Unbelievable it wasn’t fixed before they delivered your car.

But just showing up unannounced and asking for you to hand over the car is an insane way to do business.

I am wondering what the fix for the seatbelt thing is.... probably just some bigger bolts and washers?

seems like it would be way better for the dealership to load up correct tools and materials in a mobile service van and do the recall at the Customers rather than make 2 trips and a loaner ?!

LOL, all these responses when we showed it's legit and needs to be fixed.
Right?

I especially love the people saying that there is no way the dealer can be fined, when I posted the exact wording from the recall on how they would be fined. I think this one is solved, unfortunately the OP has to get this fixed, even though the dealer was the one that seems to have screwed up.

I think that despite the kind of rough communication, the dealer is even doing the right thing here in a way. OP said the dealership is two hours away and instead of calling him and asking him to bring it in, they sent someone to get the car. That is the right move, even if it should have been communicated by phone first before they just showed up.

So the issue is legitimate, it is a safety issue, people need to stop calling it a scam. OP even said he spoke to his sales person who confirmed it.

I bought the car on 2/4/22. they have nothing in writing from Ford as to this "potentially deadly" situation - and I am not giving them my keys without info in writing. is Ford hiding something - I don't know but this is crazy. their driver had me call the dealership as he waited out front, which I did and they confirmed the immediacy of this situation.

they said they will be back tomorrow with the recall details in writing. Will let you know what they say.

btw if anyone can run a vin I will send it to you for a lookup.
Send me your VIN.

Program the dealer is talking about does exist but this is totally the wrong way to go about it. Customers bringing their cars in to fix incomplete recall work is voluntary.

here it is...

VIN: 3FMTK4SE5MME04028
You have recall 21C36 active for the rear seat belt recall (your build date is 11-Nov-2021). The car should not have been sold with this recall. It was never done, and your warranty is not activated either. So yes dealer is likely getting in some trouble for this, but they probably deserve it. You should have the recall done on your terms though, not have the car demanded from you.

I just wanted to come in here and let you know you have the seatbelt recall active, and you should probably get it fixed. Also, there may be some fish in the frunk. I suspect it will smell eventually. Word is it's South American fish- if you can open the frunk remotely from your FordPass app the gentlemen in the tow truck outside would be happy to take a look for you.

I think that sums up this thread thus far, correct?

There was a thread on this that included the TSB with the repair procedure, but I don’t recall the specifics.

As is selling a car that has a stop-sale recall pending on it. But yeah, the just show up crap is pure craziness for sure...

They just drill out the holes and tap them with a larger thread, install a thread insert (helicoil), then reinstall the anchor bolt. Shouldn't take long, hardest part might be removing the rear seat cushion.

In any case, I don't' see any mechanism by which a car manufacturer can fine a dealer for an action a customer hasn't taken.

Do not hand over your keys, don't give them any info, and call your sales guy right away.

Yeah, we still haven't taken in ours for the Windshield/Pano recall. No one is knocking down our door...
