I called a dealership in Oregon just this weekend about an F150 Lightening. I asked them if the 3 they had on their site were available or were they just there to generate interest. They said they were there just to generate interest but would take my name and number if a customer didn't take delivery. No more than 30 minutes later the salesperson called and said if the customer on one of them didn't contact them by EOD, it would be available. I said, cool. He then told me they would be adding a dealer markup of $30k. I replied I do not do dealer markups of any type, not even for $1. I then declined to be contacted later as I lost all faith in the dealership.

I agree with a previous comment, this puts a huge black eye on Ford.

And as another poster stated, while there are not many choices for EV's now, there will be in the future. The very near future. And I have a very long memory on dealerships that wrong me.

Stealerships model really needs some adjustment from Ford Corporate. Funny part about my recent experience at Mazda was that I loved it. Couldn't have been more different from what I experienced when I bought from a Ford dealership, and the Mazda dealership had most of their computer systems down at the time!
I just purchased a Mazda CX 5 and l concur the dealer experience was amazing.

This is why I’m dreading the day I pick mine up.
Same here - Monday was my scheduled build day. I bought my Shelby GT500 from the same dealership I ordered my Mach-E from so I have history with these guys, but I've already warned the wife unit that if they back out of the price we agreed on then I'm walking and will be sure to identify the dealership on this forum. But hopefully it doesn't come to that and I can keep a positive relationship with my dealership as I've been a Ford guy my whole life (but willing to change if need be). I respect the original post on this thread for buying it anyways to spite the dealer, but I'm not quite so committed. It was quite a leap just to get me to pay MSRP to begin with!

My hope is that with true “custom” orders there won’t be price shenanigans in terms of actual markups etc and it’ll just be a lot a incompetence vs intentional ignorance about x-plan, price protections, ford options, etc.

I feel your pain. I was going through the same anxiety that I am sure you are experiencing now. I picked mine up around a month ago and it went as smooth as silk. I told them that I would give them a 5 star rating because of comparative dealers being so bad.

It is funny how the bar is so low now. I gave a 5 star rating to a business for doing what is right.

In the old days, that was just "normal" practice for most.

In any event, I hope everything goes well.

Good Luck!!
