PAAK has been reliable for me. Either way just enable walk-away lock and don’t worry about it. Works for me every time.

Yeah, I've done that oo.

I swipe across the whole pillar until the lights come on and then touch the bottom two with two fingers...repeatedly.

And then I ultimately reach in my pocket and press the button on the fob.

I do have walk-away turned on...but what can I say? Trust issues.
The problem most people have with the b-pillar pad is that they are trying to press non-existent buttons. The second is that they send too many signals at once. The pad needs to be activated, then codes or commands sent. A simple single touch should wake the pad up. After that, it's a simple quick touch sequence for the door code to unlock, or simultaneous touches on 7-8 or 9-0 to lock. The same caveat for the lock icon, it's not a button, a long touch on it will work if your key (fob or PAAK) is within a meter and in contact with the car (buried in foil-lined jeans or RFID hiding jackets won't work ;)). Or do as @jhalkias said and use the inside door button, that always works.

If these items are consistently not working for people, have a dealer check them out on the next visit.

Lock button on the inside of the door is super easy to hit on the way out of the car. Channel your 1992 self.
Alternatively the 7/8 9/0 buttons, both pressed after closing the door is super reliable.
The capacitance lock “button” above the door open button….. across 3 MACH-E’s and over 3 years of additive ownership…. I’ve never had that work even once.
1992? How about 1969? ? I am programmed to hit the lock button on the door panel, so I never even think about it. On the times when I have had to go into the back seat to retrieve stuff, the capacitive lock button works about 70% for me. The 7-8/9-0 combination works less reliably. At that point I open the driver’s door and hit the button on the door panel. ?‍♂?

Is it possible to have the walk away lock not function when the car's in your garage? I use the walk away lock on our Tesla all the time but it doesn't lock when the car is home.

there is no 'safe location' settings for the MME that I am aware of.... I requested that long ago, but never seen any update that mentioned it.

I typically turn OFF auto-lock for this reason, and just hit the lock button on the driver's door, or door pillar 7-8+9-0, as I exit if I am out.

I have a 2022MY Premium, and after the latest round of updates to 3.3.1, hitting the Lock button on the B-pillar has worked pretty much every time. Before that, I was either using the walk-away function, or hitting the 7/8-9/0 button combination to lock the car.

Thanks. Yeah I think I'll probably turn off auto-lock too as I don't want it locked up while in the garage.

I never taught I would ask something silly like this. PAK is not reliable so I did not set it up.
When I just get out the car how can I just lock the car.

Pressing the button on the door opens the door(blah). So I have to take the key fob out from my jacket and press the lock button (its getting cold and I don't want to fiddle searching all my pockets)
Is there another button or touch capacitive button to lock the car like ICD cars(a button on door handle something like that)

Press 7-8 and 9-0 at the same time. This will also allow you to lock your key fob inside the car as well. I do it all the time when golfing, I do not want to figure out which hole the keys fell out of my bag!

Why do I have to search daily to figure out why something is different than it's been for decades...

Came out last night to try to quickly clay bar a small area on my fender, as I walk past the car in the my driveway I nearly run into the mirror. Oh. Because it's not locked. And hasn't been for almost 2 days. (This is why my homelink hasn't been programmed yet). It looks like my walk away lock didn't lock, then when I was in the house I didn't trust the walk away lock, so I double locked with the fob from less than 30 feet away. I thought I heard it honk. But guess not.

So I'm done doing what I was going to do. I hit the lock button on the pillar. Doesn't do anything. So I try the other side, nothing as well. Why wouldn't the lock button. That any neighbor might know how to use to lock the car if they really wanted to, not work without the key. It's fairly common in my little cluster of houses around me to find a neighbors door open on their car. We all have kids, and they sometimes close the doors. Common practice is, close and lock the door. Which in my case really isn't going to work I suppose.

Something I did notice after hitting the inside lock and closing the doors, is hitting the door button sounds like it tries to open the door but misses the catch to open it? It's a very quiet action that sounds like it's pinning the door closed or trying to actuate the latch but not catching the mechanism. Learning curves galore lol.
