Yeah......and then you start considering how much you trust the FordPass app (even if it did have this monitoring feature). Pretty scary train of thought IMHO.

I have a dog and I'd love to have "pet mode", but if I'm being honest with myself I wouldn't trust the MME's software enough to leave him in there on a hot day.
In Florida, if it’s hot enough to endanger your dog, it’s illegal to leave them in the car anyways.

People do it all the time though.

This week, Tesla released an OTA update that enables drivers to activate both Dog Mode and Sentry Mode simultaneously. Our MMEs still have neither feature!
While we're at it, why doesn't anyone make a cat mode? 😉

Haha! Probably because they don't want their upholstery scratched up!

Must be why Ford calls it "Pet Mode". In case you want to take your iguana along for a ride!

This is not how software development works. You have to stabilize the base features before adding quality of life options, Ford is 3 years in how, many years did Tesla have before rolling out doggo mode. Ford has to stabilize the core framework before bolting on cool addons, which would be based on a solid core, with scalable APIs.

Stabilize the core framework? You mean like the recent OTA updates from Ford that added streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube?! Hmmm...

I believe you also have to disable auto-shutdown mode, which normally turns the car off after a half-hour or so?
When I toggle the auto shutdown setting, it just toggles itself back on and shuts off in 30 mins.
When you try toggle the motion sensors off, it doesn't turn off.
As others have mentioned, you can't trust Ford to get this right. If there was a pet mode, there would have to be a way to check that the car/AC is still on like the Tesla.

In my 2014 Fusion Hybrid, I can leave the car on with the fob inside, turn the A/C on at a set temperature, open the door, leave, close the door, and lock it with my two dogs inside. The car will chirp once the horn as a warning that the fob is inside, but the compressor is loud enough to replace the engine noise as it runs on the HV battery. When I return I unlock the car with the door keypad, then get in, put my belt on, and drive away. No one has tried to break in.

Tesla added Dog Mode in 2019, which was 7 years after they started selling the Model S. If we use the same timeline for Ford, we should see Pet Mode in the MME in 2028.
So if Ford adds Pet Mode next year, it is virtually ahead of Tesla.

Nope, if you leave a mach-e running with a cat inside you’ll not see the car again until It’s at a distant dealer with a fried HVBJB. The cat is taking the car for a joy ride and driving it hard. Very hard.
