Tesla added Dog Mode in 2019, which was 7 years after they started selling the Model S. If we use the same timeline for Ford, we should see Pet Mode in the MME in 2028.
Right, assuming Ford doesn't want to do any better than Tesla!

Being first almost always takes longer than the next iteration of any product. Tesla's Dog Mode has already spawned similar technology in Rivian, Kia, BMW, Audi, and other EVs. If they can do it so quickly, so can Ford!

Ford needs to start head hunting at Tesla!!
No quality issues with the model 3, we have had it for a year.can’t speak for 10 years ago and who cares anyway.
My heart really wants the MME. I don’t lock my dog in the car currently, I don’t have even a back up camera. My car is vintage ‘09. So, I can overlook the idiosyncrasies such as the PAAK, lack of a frunk buttton, don’t care. Y or MME is my decision by December. The heart will likely win out… but then I hope the I-told-you so doesn’t come back to haunt me.

We had a Model 3 for two years. Bought it new in 2020, drove it 23K miles, and sold it earlier this year for more than it cost new! We loved the car and I didn't want to sell it, but it seemed financially prudent and helped me fund the acquisition of my 2022 MME GTPE.

I'd buy another Tesla in a heartbeat, but keep in mind the Model Y doesn't get very good reviews compared to the MME in Consumer Reports. I'd probably go back to a Model 3 if I were to become a Tesla owner once again. At the moment, the Tesla Wall Charger I installed in my garage is charging my two MMEs just fine, thanks to the TeslaTap Mini adapter.

If we want to deliver using “Tesla timelines,” it would look like this:

Promise it by 2023.
Delay delay delay
Deliver in 2028.

As I said before, being first is always more challenging.

Rivian, Kia, BMW, Audi, and other EV manufacturers have already implemented a Pet Mode. C'mon @Ford Motor Company , join the party!

Is it challenging or is it just easier to lie to people and never be held accountable?

Deep inside the brand T boardroom:

“Make the windows bulletproof!”

“we can’t without structurally redesigning the entire doors, which will take months”

“Great! Do that, make sure it’s ready for my live debut next week”

Narcissists never hear the word “no,” they hear “no problem!”

Nothing is perfect. That being said do tell … Tesla Tap mini adapter I will be looking that up! I just see within a 5 minute drive about half a dozen model Y/3/X in my area that I just want something different. Thanks for the insight…and I don’t want the 3 I can just borrow the husbands and I don’t enjoy it the screen, the map, the entertainment. But I love the charge infrastructure, OTA updates, and no huge glaring risk of the car not starting (which hopefully is behind us in the Mme). Little things like that.

Honest question: would you entrust your dog's life to Ford's "pet mode" if it showed up in the next version?

Good question about the Pet Mode in any car, frankly. When I first used Tesla's Dog Mode, I'll admit that I watched it closely to make sure it was working.

Also, the Tesla app notifies you when the climate control system has been on a long time, such as if you go to lunch or dinner and leave the dog in the car. The apps should definitely have the ability to alert you if there's a fault in the Pet Mode.

Yeah......and then you start considering how much you trust the FordPass app (even if it did have this monitoring feature). Pretty scary train of thought IMHO.

I have a dog and I'd love to have "pet mode", but if I'm being honest with myself I wouldn't trust the MME's software enough to leave him in there on a hot day.

As long as there's a way to leave the AC on while we're getting dinner or shopping, I'm fine. Not too different from the procedure in our Prius Prime - Leave it running, turn lights off auto, lock door with key hidden in fob and dogs are fine. I have a sign I printed to put in the windows. Having lived in Florida I have HeatShield window covers which totally block out the light.

Ain’t no big thing, I turn automatic power off timer off and exit the vehicle and lock with my dog inside. Additionally I have a placard I typed up saying it’s an electric vehicle and climate control is on for my dog and text me at***-***-**** if you need further. I simply leave it face up on dash driver’s side. Easy peasy, problem solved.
