Check out this article published in U.S. News on the 14 least reliable new cars in the USA. The MME tops the list!!

However, the article also points out that "you’ll be hard-pressed to find any other glaring faults with this sporty electric crossover".
The article features no listing of reasons why these cars are "unreliable."

Why? Because they were built or designed poorly.

I think you’re looking more for “how,” and JD power typically just uses “problems per 100 vehicles.”

They don’t seem to differentiate based on severity of the problem.

“Stop safely soon” and your car dying on the road is definitely worse than having to turn your headlight knob back to auto all the time, but I don’t think they rank those problems any differently.

But that’s the same way they look at all cars. And ours, like many, is a mix of minor and major problems……….. but apparently more problems than most.

I’ve found it to be one of my favorite cars, yet also the second most problematic I’ve ever owned. I’m hoping that will change with dealer updates next week, but most of the nagging problems for the first year were hardware related, job 1 issues, that I hope would be resolved by now. I’d probably feel better about the whole thing if it wasn’t my most expensive vehicle purchase, but as I’ve said, still one of my favorites.

My thoughts exactly. :) I still can't wait for any excuse to drive it, it's just the contactor ticking time bomb issue.

again no reasons posted! I have had mine 18 months and love it. JD Power questionnaire is so long I didn't finish it. It keeps getting better
The reasons are it has more problems than other cars.

Just look at the website and they explain how it works:

https://www.jdpower.com/ratings-methodology

Quality and Reliability
  • Measures the level of defects, malfunctions and design flaws experienced by vehicle owners
  • Covers the entire vehicle from engine to infotainment system
  • A higher rating means fewer problems

I mean, yes, it has problems. It’s literally a whole new platform. It also has the most tech I’ve ever had in a car. We all know, more tech, more problems. Other than HVJB (which crapped out on me early). PaaK flakiness, and recirc resetting all the time, it’s been a flawless ownership experience. I’ve had to reboot/reset sync like 5 times in over a year of ownership. My experience has been great.

Also, Kia might have the least reported issues, but you are still driving a Kia.

So, on my parent’s 1976 LTD Brougham, the electric trunk release button was inside the glove compartment.
That car was not exactly a pinnacle of high technology. I’m not sure how many people would find that button ?
45 years later you got a vehicle with a frunk release button in the frunk, right where you want to find it when you need it. ?

Maybe the HVBJB issue? Hopefully they will be ok moving forward after 6/22, but still have a lot to fix, and basically it has to fail before they will fix. Kinda like a roulette game every time you drive.

Almost every car I've had, has had some sort of recall. I had a Subaru Crosstrek plug in hybrid, I had to jump start that thing like 5 times and had the battery replaced all under 2k miles. It would short itself out all the time. I hated it. I surprised Toyota and Subrau electrics aren't on there considering the freaking wheels can fall off!
My Audi Q5e hasn’t had any issues.

The irony is that if the HVBJB was treated as a normal recall where you get to make an appointment to have it taken care of on your own predictable schedule, then I think you could argue if it should even be considered a serious reliability problem at all.

But unfortunately Ford hasn't offered people the ability to schedule an appointment to "reliably" have the recalled part swapped out. Rather, Ford is making everyone wait for their car to break, and then inconveniently and unpredictably rush it to the dealership (best case driving it, otherwise flatbed) to leave it for diagnosis and a weeks-long wait for a backordered part that somehow still made it into 10,000+ new MME's in the third quarter.
That’s good to here, mine gets delivered next week?

Yeah, sorry. I edited my post accordingly.

I think that because it might be a competing forum, you can't link to it, but they do have a thread dedicated to "Complaints", 8 pages of them, compiled together.

I'm a Ford fanboy all the way, but jeez, I was seriously considering an MME for the wife, but right now, I think I will wait. But I do know that ignoring problems does not solve them.
I can find more than 8 pages of complaints on every car out there. Only people venting on forums are the few that had issues. You don’t hear from the countless others that drive their cars every day without issue.

Is this also the first car you’ve ever owned? ?
Recalls used to be uncommon. I've owned cars for over 40 years, and no recalls till the Mustang. I've owned my other car for 24 years - zero recalls so far. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
