So, there's been a lot of ragging on the First Edition moniker. Considering all Ford has done to keep the Mach E on track despite COVID-19, the fact that all of the First Editions seem to be scheduled in the first ~ 6 weeks of production sounds pretty First Edition to me.
I think Ford has done an exceptional job given the pandemic to keep Mach E production on schedule and not delay even more. For all we know they may have intended the FEs to truly be first but had to adjust based on the schedule delays. Yes they are the first batch to be made and given the approx 4 week delivery time, there probably was no way they would have been delivered in 2020 (for tax credit purposes) unless they were all made in early Nov and that might have been not just possible given the delays. Just glad that most of the cars are getting done at this point earlier than predicted when you take into account all the trims. Yes there are some reasons for dissatisfaction but overall the schedule seems to have picked up compared to what we thought last week.

Still haven't got my Mach Drop Build email, but did get email on original reveal night Premium scheduled for production 1/17 so am going to keep the Premium and the FE Mach Drop can go to the dealer inventory. Wife likes Lighter color interior anyhow and we don't need AWD so win-win!

If you do get the build date on the FE Mach Drop its likely going to be 1/4 based on todays trend , so not much of difference in production /delivery time

So if I do get a Mach-Drop built, both my orders will arrive on the same truck. Well, that's handy! I'll pick which one I like best.

You have to claim the credit in the year that you actually put the car in service (drive it off the lot). Even if you got a December date you probably wouldn't take possession until 2021. I've got a 12/14 date which is among the worst cases - I will get the car in mid to late January, so if I put $7500 down out of pocket, I'll have 14 months wait before getting my tax refund to pay myself back.
Sorry-You’re right. That sucks more. The person who gets the car January 1st is going to start the year off with a kick to the crotch, but hey they got their car.

Right?
It's going to be like a game show Let's Make a Deal. Imagine 4 or 6 other potential buyers cheering him on to reject the car they prefer just so they can have a chance at buying it. :)

Somewhere there is a list of what date the first one arrives still.

First-ish, anyway. Part of the First Wave.

No one is faulting Ford for COVID delays. Totally understandable that the entire schedule would get pushed back. The FE annoyance is that all the FEs didn't come before the Premiums and others (i.e. first in relative positioning). The FEs are spread throughout the first 7 build weeks just as much as Premiums were. Or another way to put it - Premiums were just as "First" as the FEs.

It is what it is. 4-6 weeks after some Premiums isn't grossly misleading over the long term. It's just greatly compounded for many because it crosses tax (credit) years. And costs some of us significant $$$ as a result instead of just cranking out all the FE's in the first 3 weeks of MP2.

You can temporarily adjust your income tax withholdings starting 1 January and get the cash back on your paychecks in the start of the year. Depending on how much you normally have in withholdings, it should only take a few months to have the entire $7500 in hand.

I agree that for folks in some states, especially CO, the timing really sucks. On the other hand, would you rather they had produced the FEs before FCTP and worked out the assembly line bugs on them? I think we're getting a higher quality car this way.

No, not before FCTPs. Just before so many Premiums.
