How do I show Navigation and Music player at same time?

I tried Googling this, and searched the forum, but nothing quite matched up. So I apologize if this has been asked before.

I just got my new MME yesterday. I am using Android Auto. It plays the music from my device just fine, and shows the big map. But what I want to do (with that hugantic screen) is be able to see the big map *and* actually see what music is playing. Right now I just get a thin black band with play/pause/skip and nothing else for the music, when the map is up.

Is there not a way to do this? I feel like the big grey boxes along the mid-bottom of the screen would be ideal, just make one of them show the music.

This is coming soon in an update to Android Auto on your phone.

The gray box along the button does show the music -- if you use Bluetooth. For some reason with AA it will just say AA on the tile.

Yeah I noticed this too - if I don't use AA and just do bluetooth, I get better music info. Which seems backwards.

Yup no problem.

Just to clarify, what's coming is a whole new multi-quadrant layout within Android Auto for larger screens (such as in our vehicle) AND Ford is also preparing to push a SYNC update that allocates more of the display's height to Android Auto.

It should be very soon. People with beta access to Andro auto already have access to this new interface. Lookup "Andro auto coolwalk" if you want a preview of what it looks like. I think some people in this forum even posted pics.

If you're by any chance considering moving to an iPhone, CarPlay does this now. (It's not the default view, and CarPlay is far from perfect, but at least it has it.)

PS. I wouldn't switch phones just for this either! ?

So I got the update, but mine still looks the same. I restarted a few times and removed the phone and re-paired the phone, still looks the same. Did you do anything special on your side?

If you indeed have the latest Android Auto overhaul, then you can tap the icon in the lower left corner to switch between the display styles.

I have version 8.6.625054 but there is nothing to click to change the screen layout. Still looks just like the old version. I heard that Google has to turn it on on their end as well.

Interesting... It appears mine may be older. On my Pixel 7 Pro, I have AA version 8.5.624594-release.

So yeah, you probably have to wait for Google to enable yours.
