I don't know what's going on, but the recycled air setting for climate control continues to turn itself off. It will be off when I turn the car on and it will turn itself off multiple times while driving. I don't understand why some settings don't stay what you set them to. Anyone else having this issue?

Everyone else. It is working as designed. If it detects that the internal air is full of humidity, it lets in outside air. Nothing you can do except manually override.

That is beyond frustrating. No other car I've ever had decides to change settings like that. I can't stand when I'm behind some exhaust dump of a vehicle and it fills the whole car with that smell.

This is not unique to the Mach-E. Ford's have had this "feature" for a very long time.

This is my first Ford. Not a fan of this "feature".
Then why did you say "I don't know what's going on" when in fact you apparently do know what's going on? Or never noticed it on your other Fords?

Because I had no idea Fords did this. I had no idea what was going on and now that I know, I don't like this feature. I'v never had a vehicle turn off settings I set before. As stated, this is my first Ford, so I'm not sure what other Fords you are referring too.

To be fair to the OP, I’ve owned about 20 Fords in my lifetime. Before the MME, my latest were a 13 Explorer and a 17 F150. They all had hardware buttons for recirc. No auto turn off.

Also to note, last summer, I think after a 2.8.x update, my recirc stayed on. Now, after 3.x, it shuts itself off again.

Sorry, I misread and thought I saw "this is not my first Ford".

In some vehicles, you were prevented from using recirculated air in certain modes, like max defrost (it notes that in your 2017 manual).

It also says things like "Recirculated air may also turn on and off automatically in instrument panel or instrument panel and floor airflow modes during hot weather to improve cooling efficiency." In other words, you may select it, but it may not stay selected.

Basically, there became a point in time where cars started forcing the issue, and the Mach-E is not the first.

Don't buy a Chevy either. They work the same way. Well the Chevy Bolt does let you turn off the feature but the result is an undriveable car. The windshield is constantly fogged up when the setting is turned off.

Apparently the only times I use recirc in my 17 are not subject to turn off. I never use it in the winter.
