Driving in a rented Chrysler van up north made me think about the heated seats and steering wheel UI.
The Van had the heated seat and steering wheel button hidden behind a climate menu, it was horrible.
The MachE locked buttons at the bottom are good but it made me realize why the GM Yukon we own is so much better instead of the slider.

MachE can keep the slider, but just update the UI to make it cycle through the settings when you push the button. Slider could go away after X time or when you click elsewhere in the scren no need to have clicking the heated seat button make the slider go away. It would be nice to have the screen buttons work more like a traditional heated seat button.

What about the auto heated seats? Does anyone use that and like it? Conceptually it seems nice but the one time I turned it on the seats stayed warmer than I wanted and I feared it was wasting battery. My wife on the other hand probably would have liked that.
Thanks,

Auto heated seat works fine for me, I never adjust it. The seat temperature is tied to your climate control temp setting, so if the Auto seat is too warm turn down your climate temp. I recommend 66-70ºF settings in the winter.

Don't worry about the power usage for the heated seats, it's tiny comapred to driving. It's like worrying about a nightlight on your electric bill.

The Auto setting for my heated seats is fine for me too. I rarely change the setting and sometimes am surprised to find the heat on because my behind doesn’t feel like it’s being roasted. ?‍♂?

Funny, I think the Auto heat setting for the seats is magical. I never feel hot or cold on that setting.

The row of icons in Uconnect that are persistent across the bottom of the screen are customizable. You can set a button for heated seats and steering wheel to always be there. Ford could learn a thing or two about customization from them.

Agree. That is nice feature. Our Wrangler has the larger screen and we could park the heater controls there but it also has physical buttons on the dash panel below the screen so we use that instead. Very convenient.

I like and use the auto heated seats - set and forget. I wonder what it would be like if the Mustang Mach e had ventilated seats as well?

I know it’s been discussed before but why Ford would put an AC button at the bottom and NOT an Eheat button just shows they are way out of touch. Yes, the sliders for the seat heat is redonkulous. The way the seat button was before they did the update and made it a slider worked as it should. Way way out of touch.

Interesting replies, I have only really tried the auto heated once. Sounds like I need to give it a shot again! Still say if they also allowed you to cycle through the settings by pressing the button the same way a physical button works that would be better though. Slider requires you to take your attention off the road more IMO.

It's a regional thing. I seldom use e-heat, heated seats or heated steering wheel. I'm more likely to use the A/C. Everyone thinks that the way they use the car is the way everyone uses the car.

What would really be nice is if Ford gave us the option to customize what shows up on the screen and where it's placed ala an Android home launcher screen.

That would be ideal lets us pick the buttons we want. The trunk button would be high on the list.

They moved that button from the Climate Screen because people were complaining about making 2 taps vs 1.

In my opinion, all you need on the main screen is the Auto Climate since that is the only one I adjust most of the time. Touching 1 button to get all the rest of the HVAC controls seemed logical to me but they decided to change it anyway.

When they first made that change (moving the A/C button) to the main screen.....it was a problem because I would accidentally turn off A/C when I was trying to adjust the Auto Climate (since they are so close and the car is so bouncy). I solved that problem by grabbing the bottom of the screen with my 4 fingers and use my thumb to adjust the Auto. That keeps my hand steady and I don't accidentally turn off A/C any longer.

I guess if that button is going to be there.....then perhaps it could be a smart button and show A/C during warmer months and E-Heat during colder weather? That is probably asking too much though.... ?

Is your Wrangler fully electric? Do you and your wife enjoy this car ? I was thinking of trading mine for one.

There are no fully electric Jeeps. The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee come in a 4xe flavor that's plugin hybrid.
