Folks, out of curiosity, If you were in the market for an electric SUV today, would you still buy the Mach E?

If not, which one would you go for?

Without a second thought. Iā€™d buy my 2021 Job 1 Premium AWD ER again. I love the car, non-working remote frunk release not withstanding šŸ˜€

I love my car as well and for the price point I'd buy it again. That being said, need more selection on EV tires for the premium which I expect to come in near future with more EV's hitting the market. Also, would like the range and charging to be improved in future models, especially cold weather range impacts. I've gone from 270 miles to 200 miles in 30 degree weather. If I could afford it, the new BMW SUV is pretty sweet with a 325 mile range and fairly fast charging. My friend just got one and he's not seeing the severe cold weather range impact in it. At $91K it's a little out of my price range though

How cold does it really get in GA - assuming your friend is from there :). In CT the difference on the MME is significant.

Not sure. The new GM models look really compelling. Similar range, faster DCFC, better driver assistance and hopefully no bounce (?). And now with the Ford price hikes and GM getting its tax credit (mostly) back, the GM models will really compete on price, even the Lyriq.

That being said, I know my Ford dealer and what to expect from it. Dealerships typically all suck but I've heard particularly bad things about GM dealerships. That doesn't inspire me.

At least we know Jim Farley wants the dealership experience at least improved if he can't (immediately) get rid of it.

But the MME is what I have today and I am still very happy with it. Like I've said in other posts: we are not done. The Sync and AA updates could really improve the interaction with the vehicle. I also have yet to try different tires which has been said to make a difference with ride and handling. The model refresh on this car has so much potential.

For me, No. And the primary issue is Winter Heating and Range. The efficiency of the climate system is a no-go for me after moving to an Ioniq 5 Limited. If Ford would revamp that system with a real heat pump, quick heating electric resistance backup for cabin heater (10F-72F in 5 minutes) and separate PTC for the battery (Basically steal the Hyundai design) , they would have a sure winner, high battery capacity, and probably the best EV SUV with a phenomenal winter range, as they already have good tech and OTA updates. A cover for the glass roof, ventilated front seats, robust HVJB, display the charge rate for all levels in the cabin, and adjustable rear seat backrests would be a nice addition as well and able to charge at 250 kWh would not be too bad either (but not a deal breaker). But those are the major pain points for me. Also the cost....Why is it $10K more than an Ioniq 5 Limited (I know its the bigger battery as most of it). With updated HVAC systems, the Mustang Mach E ER would have over a 220+ mile range in the winter time down into the teens (pre-heated). 2.498 mi/kWh (Ioniq 5 at 70 MPH, 70F in cabin, highway, 19-22 degrees F, NOT preheated)*91kWh=227 miles. It could be one of the best, if not the best....

My first car was a '65 Mustang. Loved it! I love my '21 Mach-E even more. Bought it on a whim - and the dealer, Richmond Ford in Virginia, was great. Wife loves it! The range sure has gone down with winter, but just pulling into the garage and in five seconds plugging it in is so convenient. Oh, and did I mention that we LOVE our Mach-E.

Right now, yeah. I do kinda love it. I donā€™t really see anything else out there at the moment with the combination of looks, performance and price that attracts me. Of source, thatā€™s probably going to change in the next few years. Losing the $7500 tax credit is a big loss for price. Looks are still good, comparatively. The Ioniq and EV6 donā€™t do it for me. The new GMā€™s are going to sell because theyā€™re bringing the price down to the masses but, again, itā€™s the looks - ok, but just the same old. A Taycan would be great, but donā€™t want to spend that much. What Iā€™d really like is a BMW X6E. I might spend the money on that - a little roomier, and just as good looking, even though I donā€™t need the AWD. For now, Iā€™ll just keep the MachE but I am looking for the replacement down the road a few years, which very well could be another MachE.

Given the price increases of the vehicle since I purchased in October 2021 at MSRP, I'd probably get the Ioniq 5.

Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™d buy it again. Likely not at the 2023 pricing. Itā€™s probably the best looking EV in this size and the quality and comfort is great, but I agree with the concerns about winter driving (which I do a lot of) and Iā€™m frustrated with the suspension and software. Outside of looks and styling it would be hard to make an argument that the MME is better value than the Ioniq 5 (not a fan of the styling, but Iā€™ll admit itā€™s growing on me) unless the MME quality is clearly superior? Interestingly, we have a Telluride from Hyundaiā€™s sister brand, and the body panel quality is laughable compared to the MME. I sometimes marvel at how smooth the MME panels are. But I also feel like it would be tough to buy the MMEs slower charging platform in 2023. For the 2022 price I paid, including tax credit, itā€™s been a great car in general. Just not sure Iā€™d buy it in 2023.

FWIW the Polestar2 was the other EV we were seriously looking at when we purchased the MME. Itā€™s a smaller car so itā€™s a difficult comparison. I personally think itā€™s the best looking EV on the road, but thatā€™s obviously quite subjective. It seems to have its own issues with TCAM (connectivity) malfunctions.

Since for the last year you could SELL it for more than you paid for itā€¦ā€¦.. anyone who honestly says ā€œnoā€ is just punishing themselves for not selling it yet.

Every day you keep it is a decision to buy it all over again at its current value. Itā€™s the same with anything you own.
