When I was on the phone with Tesla yesterday, the rep. was very helpful and encouraged me to reserve a MY and take the delivery by year end to get $3750 credit and free charging as listed on the website. (At one point after the phone call the credit went up to $7500 but I did not see it until today.) While I was on the phone yesterday, I asked the rep. if it is possible for a customer to reserve now and take the delivery in Jan-Feb for full $7500 EV rebate instead of $3750 credit and free charging. The rep. was kind enough to give a reminder about the income limits. He also mentioned that there is an uncertainty about MY classification (Sedan or SUV). If for somehow Mach E and MY would be classified as a sedan, Select and RWD SR Premium may still be qualified for full tax credit. These two models would be flying off the lots.

All M3 RWD in Dallas area are gone from Tesla website. It looks like up-the-discount plan is working well for Tesla.

I really think that people were holding off their tesla purchase until the new year to get the tax credit, but now that tesla has given everyone the $7500 discount, people are snapping up Tesla cars again.

The fundamentals haven't changed, just the incentives.

Not sure how this post adds anything. You either bought a $37,152 MME after tax and everything on 72 months at 0%, or you traded in another vehicle to lower the principal or put down a cash down payment for the same. Others on here have probably paid cash in full on their MME. Others took 1.7% interest with a small down payment and have a high monthly payment, but are enjoying watching that $30k they could have put down accrue 3+% interest right now and chuckling at those that put all that money down on their down payment to have a lower monthly payment instead of having that cash make them money.

There are a lot of ways you could buy a car, or house, or whatever, and they were clearly just covering an example finance price for someone that just did a 60 or 72 month with a smaller down payment, which is likely fairly typical. Without down payment our MME would have been 900 on options or 1100/mo with 60 months @ 1.7%.
Yeah this is what I was getting at. It's an expensive car for anyone not making a lot of money, doesn't matter how you afford it, doesn't change the fact that this is a $50k-75k car and takes considerable down payment or trade in while still having a pretty big monthly payment.

I’m pretty sure this Tesla employee is doing opposition research to fishing for sales. It’s been all sunshine and roses when that’s not the case (“superior” range and worlds best customer service). Tesla is in trouble because of somebody’s mushroom habit and galactic ego ie S.S. Titanic I mean sinking of Twitter. Tesla is facing an investor coup as the stonks aren’t going up “forever” anymore. They’ve never ever done such a cash grab to clear out the books. Desperate times = desperate measures (Hilarious, the worlds former richest man has to beg for money at the World Cup with Jared Kushner). Hopefully the stock will keep tanking and be under 100 tomorrow and make my Christmas (No I haven’t shorted them).

You're right. It didn't really add anything. I got drawn in by some yahoo making assumptions about other people's finances and shitting on them for what their made up scenario painted as poor choices.

Tesla mismanagement.
Ford dealership model, management problems and excessive marketing budget.
Tesla - consumer is the customer.
Ford nor its dealerships consider consumers to be customers.
Tesla probably will be able to maintain its advantage, economically and otherwise. Easier to hire competent management for them, as long as they keep Barnum Musk at bay.
Ford? A crap shoot.

This Tesla deal caught my be eye as I'm looking at another gtpe or a model y but they are just so ugly.my mache got approved for a buyback. Thing is these 2 are the only 2 choices currently for size, speed, hands free ability. Problem is I have to wait again for another mache if I want one I put a order in today but like 6 months oh god. But also don't matter with Tesla as there are no model y performance in Chicago area or other areas if I traveled. Honestly only way I was really looking is a 2022 or 2021 model y with low mileage and if they bought full self driving. I would like it but I'm not paying that 15k.

I love this car, it's outstanding. I take it instead of my F-150 a lot of times, and I love my F-150. But the price we paid was about the ceiling for what I would pay for a vehicle with this equipment. My F-150 Lariat PowerBoost 502a, every option available, was $72k MSRP and it has cooled seats, way more room, is still at least a Hybrid, has a good 700+ miles of "range", and can tow a boat while also hauling all kinds of suitcases and cargo in the bed way over the limit of the MME. It's also fairly quick too, not MME 0-60 level, but not as far off as one might think given the size difference.
Ha, I have a 22 PB F150 and the MME GTP as well. Drive the MME mostly due to 90% of driving sub 1 miles. Can't beat EVs for lots of short hops, the F150 I have to make up a long way just to get it to warm up as it's ICE. F150 handsfree driving system is superior, but the MME is fun (the F150 will drive on far more narrower roads than the MME which makes little sense to me, it needs work). The F150 is faster on the top end -- E30 tune will make 600hp and nearly 700 torque. The powerboost comfort is awesome though w/ nearly 700 miles on a tank. Love both of them. Road trip? F150 hands down. So comfy. I've got the 7.2 generator on it and it will charge the mme @ 30 amps -- basically using the F150 to charge the MME comes out to ~21 MPG/E. It will put about 7kwh into the MME batt on 1 gallon of gas in 1 hour.

The credits I’m talking about are the carbon credits it sells to other manufacturers.

They weren’t profitable from car sales without them until 2021:

https://www.euronews.com/next/2021/...g-on-emissions-credits-but-semi-truck-delayed

“Tesla's current run of eight profitable quarters in a row wouldn't have been possible without the sale of carbon emissions credits to other manufacturers. This is the first time the company has been profitable even without credit sales since October 2019.”
Lots of confusion here --- Tesla is the most profitable automaker. They make ~30% profit per EV. Conventional auto companies (ford gm vw toyota) make ~12-15% on each vehicle.

They're also rapidly expanding. New factory / expansion doesn't mean the car isn't profitable. Taking massive debt and / or expanding like crazy isn't the same thing as having a profitable car. Tesla's costs continue to drop as well due to their huge castings. They're industry leading in profitability and they'll upgrade tooling without batting an eye.

Tesla's issues is one, the cars are dated. They've milked the current styling for all it's worth, well beyond what I'd personally own. Two, the center screen only is stupid. $20k car, understandable. $50k+, um nope. That's why they're so profitable though. They've been charging a premium for a stripped interior. Even today, brand new cars coming out of the factory are hit and miss on fit/gap/finish. Did I mention they're ugly? Repairs -- need warranty work, good luck.

When tesla gets the tax credit back, they're going to start to dominate the market even more. The 2023 MME pricing has gotten out of hand. 76k for a GTE (nor is the standard GT worth 70k). I hope they don't get dumb w/ the 2024 mustang pricing, might order one of those.

Tesla Full Self Driving is $15k.
The MME does not come with 2 years of free charging. It comes with 250kWh of free charging.
Fsd is nothing more than level 2 as stated by Tedla own legal team.

Yes, FSD is a completely false term. They're both L2 ADAS. I'm surprised that tesla hasn't had lawyers go after them yet for the false advertising. Perhaps by keeping it "beta" they're able to just keep up the false advertising via youtubers, since they don't actually advertise. They use the cult.

I'm sorry, but a Model Y looks like a pregnant Model 3. The sameness of the Tesla design language is looking dated and is far less interesting than other manufacturers IMO. Hyundai and Kia are really swinging for the fences.
There's a Hyundai dealer a block from my house and every time I go by I think that Ioniq5 looks like it is from the future.
