MSRP. Wonder if ford can use the private offer to lower overall MSRP?
Nope, but what they can do is lower MSRP rather than giving rebates.

Shouldn’t be hard to game the system. Then just let the dealers add ADM.

MSRP was always a made up fake price anyways.

People still buy expensive ICE cars with no federal tax credit. It’s no different, maybe less demand but manufacturers will still offer the trim.
Yeah, but the ICE cars don’t have inflated MSRPs because of government incentives.

Without the credit, the Mach E is about $8-10k “overpriced” compared to similar vehicles.

Honest question. Are the Teslas also that overpriced, they have not had the incentive for a bit. Or is the fit and finish that much better on them?

If you take delivery tomorrow 12/31/22 of an MME, does the MME still qualify as an SUV?

I have had such a roller coaster ride with this car. Ordered a 2021 really late, converted to a 2022 pretty much right after ordering. Waited so long, I put in for an Ioniq 5, lost the credit on that car. Great, I still have a Mach E on order.

Finally got the build email for the Mach E, shipped with an arrival of the first week in October. The car was damaged in shipping out of Mexico. Got converted to a 2023, to replace the damaged car. Was going to see if it would squeeze in before the end of the year. Then the news that the 2023 would qualify now and a ship date for mid January. Now this...
That is quite a ride, so sorry for you :(

Sorry to hear all the disappointment out there. I was in the same position a few months ago, but it turned out for the better. That is, in September 2021 I ordered a VW ID4. As of February 2022, and hearing nothing from VW in over 6 months, I ordered a 2022 MME Premium AWD ER. I was uncertain which car I would purchase, but delivery date was a major factor. In August, 2022, I was informed the VW would enter production and delivery would be in September. However, with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and that my ID4 was built in Germany, the tax credit would not be available to me. Also I took additional test rides in the MME and was leaning towards the MME as my favorite.

The removal of the tax credit made my decision to cancel the VW very simple. The dealer was informed and sold my ID4 in three days with a $7k ADM. My deposit was quickly refunded. That same day, I was notified by Ford that my MME would go into production in late September and be delivered in early November. I took possession on 11/14/22 and also received a $2000 factory rebate. I know I am happier with the MME.

It’s irrelevant. The tax credit applicable for 2022 purchases does not involve vehicle classification or MSRP.

Ok but Tesla is a status symbol for a certain generation, can the MME be a status symbol for a different generation (say gen X)?

Not 100% sure this is correct, per the window sticker and some digging it looks like the epa is who designates if they are consider suv/vs car. It literally calls it out in the window sticker by the epa figures.

I get IRS doesn’t have to follow that but why wouldn’t they, we pay the irs to dictate categories for things?

Either way, only time will tell, hope their site is wrongs

They didn’t used to be. But with their recent price jumps…… yup. Definitely overpriced. It’s also why they have a $7500 incentive right now.

And if they suffer the same “no credit” fate as the Mach e, expect those discounts to continue.
