The cost has gone down recently , that why Tesla was able reduce so much. I guess Ford also did the same seeing material cost going down.
Really, I haven’t seen any information stating that. Could you provide me with a link showing Ford’s costs have gone down?

There is a money printing press called the F 150. As long as Ford has that, they can afford to try and maintain a strong presence in the EV marketplace even at reduced margins, or God forbid, a loss. The number of Mach-e's produced is a pimple on a horse's ass compared to approximately 3/4 million F 150's produced year after year with incredible margins. Ford sees this price reduction as maintaining relevance in the EV marketplace, and a bit of great press, I might add.

True, if you order and get it in time. I guess there is some risk there with your particular VIN with build quality and missing radar currently, but true that you can order and wait. Downside is you lose your order fee if you change your mind, but you make a valid point.
Remember in March coming up, IRS will rule on the battery mineral/sourcing/assembly so the tax credit may be dropping on the MME....

Better to get a '23 now with the new price drops and get an under $55K MSRP for the full tax credit...

Now if my incoming MME gets here after being pushed back 3 times this month...

a broad product range is kind of a disadvantage... it dilutes R&D, mfg, and supply chain leverage. That is a key reason why Ford decided to drop cars in 2017.
Not sure thats why they stopped making cars, as much as it was they couldn't compete any longer with foreign brands. Think we gotta be honest here about how inefficient and low value our American car manufacturers have become over time. They all had to tuck tail and run to just large SUVs and Trucks because since the mid 60's the US has kept a 25% import tax on those vehicle types (called the Chicken Tax), which is not prevalent on other vehicles.

So between that tax rate, and that large vehicle types aren't as common overseas the legacy brands here have been protected from really competing and potentially losing like they have other segments. But on the flip side this lack of competition has given overly expensive large vehicles here, poor value, and laughable annual improvements that would make even the phone market look like its reinventing the wheel at this point. These companies have been protected to a point they lost their edge, which is why they are struggling to shake it off and compete with Tesla or soon to be a flood of China quality brands. Not to mention should they make a mistake or lose than the government has proven they'd just bail them out. Doesn't exactly build strong character.

I'm disappointed to see Ford following Tesla and not leading the industry. I ordered my Mach E 9/9/2021. It was delivered 5/13/2022. Ford had no problem raising my price twice before I took delivery. The price at the time it was ordered was not honored as it should have been. The practice of jerking prices continues. It does not show industry leadership nor does it show a customer orientation. One satisfaction is that my price is still lower than current and future pricing. The other is that I really do like the car.

Wonder if they will refund people that purchased using the private offer this month, seems counterintuitive but would be a nice bonus

Making it awfully tough on people to choose the ER battery. Could be a $14,500 upgrade counting the lost $7500 tax credit for going over $55k.

That is, assuming the tax credit applies at all after March due to materials sourcing. Still an unknown.

I guess I should feel fortunate I *only* paid $5000 extra for mine.
I honestly think most people would be just fine with the standard battery.

Between having another car for road trips or just not frequently taking them, an important share of ER buyers just reflexively go for the most range without thinking about it enough. $14,500 is great incentive to deal with the occasional rental.

Press Release:

FORD TO SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE PRODUCTION OF MUSTANG MACH-E IN 2023, REDUCES PRICES ACROSS THE BOARD

JAN 30, 2023 | DEARBORN

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 30, 2023 – With its new EV supply chain coming online, Ford is significantly increasing production of the Mustang Mach-E this year to help reduce customer wait times and to take advantage of streamlined costs to reduce prices across the board, making Mustang Mach-E even more accessible to customers and keeping it competitive in the marketplace.

The production increase is a key part of the Ford+ Plan, underscoring the company’s commitment to lead the EV revolution by increasing the value of its EVs for customers, continuing to position Mustang Mach-E as a compelling option for those looking for an electric SUV, and growing market share. Ford already offers EV customers a full-size truck, SUV and van – and has secured the batteries and raw material to scale production of all these models in 2023.

Mustang Mach-E delivers the 0-60 thrills with an available EPA-estimated 300+ mile range1 and zero tailpipe emissions. It is available with BlueCruise hands-free driving on more than 130,000 miles of highway and can be updated through over-the-air Ford Power-Up software updates. All Ford EV customers also have access to more than 79,000 charging plugs and growing through the BlueOval Charge™ Network, North America’s largest public charging network.2

Almost all of Mustang Mach-E’s growth to date is incremental to the brand with two-thirds of Mustang Mach-E customers coming from competitor brands.

The Mustang Mach-E was the No. 3 EV model in the U.S. in 2022 and the updated pricing is part of Ford's plan to keep the SUV competitive in a rapidly changing market, while strengthening Ford’s position as the No. 2 U.S. EV manufacturer as it continues to scale that part of the business.

“We are not going to cede ground to anyone. We are producing more EVs to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an ownership experience that is second to none,” said Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer, Ford Model e. “Our customers are at the center of everything we do – as we continue to build thrilling and exciting electric vehicles, we will continue to push the boundaries to make EVs more accessible for everybody.”

MSRP excludes destination/delivery fee plus government fees and taxes, any finance charges, any dealer processing charge, any electronic filing charge, and any emission testing charge.

Existing Mustang Mach-E customers awaiting delivery of their vehicle will automatically receive the adjusted price and for customers with a sale date after Jan. 1, 2023, and already have their Mustang Mach-E, Ford will reach out directly.

“Part of our mission at Ford is to treat customers like family,” said Gjaja. "We want our customers to know they made the right decision by choosing a Mustang Mach-E, and we’ll continue to play a proactive role in doing the right thing for those joining the Ford family.”

In addition to adjusted pricing, on Mustang Mach-E vehicles ordered between Jan. 30 and April 3, 2023, Ford Credit will be offering special rates as low as 5.34%.

“This is a natural companion to the new Mach-E pricing,” said Craig Carrington, Ford Credit executive vice president for North America. “The offer is straightforward and competitive, enabling customers to lock in today’s rates, even if rates go up between order and delivery.”
I'm really bummed about this. Seems a little late. I was able to get a M3P for literally $30k less and qualifies for the tax credit.

I don't drive that much, but, when I do I like knowing that I won't have to stop to charge if I'm ever on a 270-300 mile roadtrip. Also the ER packs charge at the faster rate for a little bit, 150 instead of 115 once you did need to charge.

Pick your poison....Ford chose styling over efficiency in the hopes that the Mach-E's styling would be more appealing to some/many/most buyers. Not saying this is right or wrong; Mach-E styling is superb to many people, from what I can tell. The downside to this strategy is that, to get a lot of range, they have to jam a humongous, nearly 100kW battery in the car to get over 300 miles range. Tesla has a more efficient design with more range despite a much smaller 82kW battery. This is one of the things that helps them be able to lower price while retaining industry leading profitability. I think Ford has to bite the bullet and get the extended range under $55k somehow.

We have a 240 mile range EV that we like a lot; its a great car. But if we were to go back in time, we'd probably lean towards getting the most range possible out of an EV. In winter highway driving, we were reduced to ~125 miles usable range without running down to close to 0 charge. This makes things especially tough because then you feel like you have to DC fast charge to 100% which of course takes way longer. 80% of an already greatly reduced range just doesn't work for a road trip.
