A mid-cycle refresh makes a lot of sense given the interest Ford has in deploying LFP battery architecture in the MME and last month’s factory downtime to retool Cuautitlán in January.
The mid-cycle refresh may include LFP as well as the Android Automotive OS for infotainment (not to be confused with the existing Android Auto integration).

The plant shutdown was for upgrades to increase line capacity to crank out more units.

That's an absolute guess and not anything that's been communicated from Ford. My guess would be that they roll out the AA based infotainment on a new model first, and then potentially begin migrating it to existing models as they hit their full-cycle refreshes. At least, that's how Ford has typically done things in the past: still lots of new cars with sync3

Apple CarPlay would still be available. Android Automotive is already used as the base infotainment OS for several other brands.

Ford has been very upfront that Mach-E and Lightning will be among the first to get the new Android Automotive-based Sync. They were aiming for this in the 2023’s but got delayed.

Existing cars will not get it. They have stated as much.

100% agree with that statement

Historically their aim is overly ambitious (a few examples):
The cars were targeted to be DELIVERED with bluecruise - missed by 18 months
The cars were targeted to get bluecruise as an OTA in the summer of 21 - missed again
The cars were targeted to get bluecruise as a generally available feature 1Q22 - missed
The cars were supposed to get the frunk release OTA in "summer 22" - big miss

I love my car but Ford's ability to make their dates is not enough to worry me about "sync5" obsoleting my car for a few years yet.

ugh, now I hate Tesla even more. How many of us who recently picked up are fkin pissed??
I just picked mine up about three weeks ago. Luckily, it seems that those who have 2023s purchased at former prices will be made whole. Still haven't heard from the dealer about how this will be done, though. They haven't been given any specifics.

Read some of the Tesla forums as well to get a fair comparison. You can't even inspect the inside of the car before giving them your $50k+ and there are quite a few posts about misaligned stuff/build quality that's surprising.

Like they say, grass always look greener on the other side.

Those that picked theirs up past 2 months enjoyed receiving the full PCO + MSRP reduction ?

Does not sound very fair at all to those that are waiting after today ?

Still in Mexico
Others with the same bill date are already driving their cars and I am getting zero information from my dealer or from Ford corporate other than "all we know is that it was built on Dec 22nd". That's terrible customer service.
Really frustrated..
