I’m a new MME owner (2021 Job2 Premium). I have received the 4.1.3 update, but a kind member gave me an FDRS report yesterday showing that I still have something like 14 various module updates to be done. Since those weren’t resolved by the latest OTA updates, I’m planning to make an appointment at the dealer to get the updates.

My question is whether I will be charged for this, or is it covered under the warranty?

TIA for your perspectives.

Warranty only pays if there are problems. You have to have a demonstrated issue or have an outstanding recall/customer service campaign to have a specific problem resolved. Which means the dealer would only install updates for that specific issue/module not all that are available for the whole vehicle.

Just because updates are available doesn’t mean Ford will pay the dealer to install them. Dealers don’t get paid by Ford to install all available updates but you could pay for them if your dealer agrees.

Unfortunately, just having some module updates pending is not considered warranty work the dealership will offer to do. It depends on which modules you need, but it’s likely several hours of work, maybe a whole day or more.

Instead of feeling behind because of not having the latest modules, is there a function or feature that is not performing like you think it should? If yes, then start the conversation with your dealer about that instead of the FDRS update report.

Yes, I’m feeling left behind, but I’m not aware of anything not performing correctly, at least not yet.

Thanks for the fast response1

Thanks for the fast response. Sounds like Ford does the same as Chevy——they pay for updates only in the case of recalls or customer satisfaction programs.

I’ll be patient……..

Thanks again.

What about users that are way behind on OTA's. I only have 2.7.4. I got the letter saying I will get Blue Cruise but still waiting for the update to be pushed to me. Should Ford cover taken it into the dealership to see if they can force the updates?

If you are not having a problem I see no reason to go in for updates. Also keep in mind that with MME updates sometimes the update creates more problems you don't currently have or takes features away you have.

Like the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

i'm in this exact scenario as you. I'm also on 2.7.4. i took it to the dealer for the BlueCruise recall and they couldn't do it. it has been paused by Ford as of January 4th, i believe. if you get a different answer or find out more info, please let me know!

in the case they can do the recall, it is covered by Ford. (e.g. i got the HVAC and windshield resealing recalls at no cost last week)

You’re not left behind. Your car is up to date. Updating every module will result in nothing changing.

If you still feel the need to have modules updated even though you gain nothing, pay the dealer to do so or search out an enthusiast who has an FDRS account and the equipment to update. But you will gain nothing.

There is an issue if your car isn’t getting updates, take it to your dealer. In addition the dealer can install BlueCruise. Search the forum for the CSP/TSB that covers this.

I just took my car last week and the dealer said they cannot resolve 21G01 - is there something else you're saying i can refer to as a reason/way to fix this issue? he said ford suspended the installation of this fix due to an IPC programming issue. they suspended this on January 4th.

Your dealer is mistaken.

I think you can get BlueCruise added to your car through TSB 22-2494.
