Hi all.
my charger has worked fine for Almost a year now. But in the past three days, started gettingand orange light with an orange arrow pointing to it.
It will give me a “fault charging error” or a “charging paused” alert on my phone app. But then will go back to blue for a few minutes, then flicker back to orange again.

anyone else had this?

A common remedy for anything to do that that charger is to unplug and replug firmly the cable leading to the wall power. Sometimes they’re loose even though they feel tight.

Thx. Tried that, even tried the breaker to the panel and reset that too.

That combination of lights isn’t covered in the manual. I’d take it to the dealer for replacement.

Happened to me once last week as well - I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it's been fine. But I'm now looking around for a replacement.

That's not an arrow, it's just a reflection off the light tunnels. You have the classic amber light failure so you'll have to go to the dealer and get a replacement. Recommend you buy a different EVSE for daily use since the Mobile Chargers are not robust.

Thanks Christian, Same thing happened to me just after 4.2.1 update. Reset 220 plug. Charged fine.

I recently installed a 240v Nema 14-50 Hubbell residential grade, I meant to get an industrial grade but accidentally got the residential. So far no problems, except the orange light turned on often, in contrast to 110v charging it only lit once in a year. To get the light off when it turned on last night I wiped the hottest part of the charger with a wet towel, it worked, minutes after that the light went off. So I hot glued a piece of sponge on the hot zone when it happens next time I’ll spay some water on it to cool it down.

Not an expert here but I would think in general that the sponge you applied will insulate your charger thereby causing it to retain heat and alarm more often. Just my theory. If I were in a high temp area I think I would rig a fan to blow over my EVSE while charging. Finally monitor the plug from time to time to ensure it is not overheating.

my thinking is water cooling is far more effective than air cooling, in my case I don't have room for a box fan.

Time will tell if it works or not.

For mine, the back has the majority of the heat. Keep it off the wall. And I have installed a small directed fan right above to help it cool off.

The fan works great. I used that until I was able to change the outlet out for the Hubbell Industrial outlet, which solved my problems. The lugs on the back of the outlet must be torqued to 75 lbs-in.

It's a good design. I just wiped it with water, and then it got hot again soon.

so the fan is no longer working. charger throttles back to 5 kw. upgraded to a Hubbell outlet. IS a much better product, but still the amber light slows it down to 5kw. it is extremely hot. mid 90s. haven't had the car that long to know if this is mostly a summer thing???
