GM is trying to turn lemons into lemonade... their EV ramp up is pathetic. They sold 36 Lyriqs last year.

They are deflecting to plug in hybrids without casting too much shade on the EVs they are proving unable to produce.
Hey they sold 120 or so Hummer EVs lol. A vehicle that gets 1.6mi/kwh on the highway. Great job.

The difference i Tesla charging stations are more available and more reliable.
Bingo, the stress of not knowing if you'll get a charge is a huge issue with CCS and witnessing plenty of broken CCS chargers just adds to it.

Tesla has a good reputation for reliable chargers, so the stress level drops significantly...You know you won't get stranded.

Hey - that’s not bad! I’m getting just slightly better than that with my MME under conditions described above. In cold weather those Hummers will have to either a) pull a trailer with its own a DCFS charger and substation b) use roof mounted wind/solar power generation c) drive to a warmer area at 35 mph braking frequently to get some regen.

I assume all of those were sold in Cali or Scottsdale.

Has EA or other DCFC providers figured out WHY the chargers are constantly broken? If they were putting out peak power all the time, yeah sure, maybe. But hell, half of them just don’t work at all, the other half deliver 1/3rd to 1/2 the rated max. How’s that?

The L2's behind the gate at the dealer? LOL. You can charge till these bozos go home, and then you gotta leave.
They will be installing at least one L3, accessible to Public, if they want to be an EV certified dealership.

I hope it’s not provided by EA or others that can’t seem to function half the time.
I saw a post, and can’t seem to find it again, with the inside of an EA charger and a SC. The SC is drastically less complicated with far fewer parts. Wonder why they always seem to work.

I don't recall reading that EA was mandated for a uptime, only coverage.
Either way, it's a terrible start for the non-Tesla EV world. I would be much much more comfortable recommending an non Tesla EV if I knew the person I was recommending would have a pain-free, frictionless charging experience, but that is far from reality.

Because there is no incentive for EA. If I was penalized into providing EV chargers, I would do the same. The bare minimum to meet the penalty requirements.

I'm sure EA wants out of this mess, but I don't see anyone knocking on EA doorstep with an acquisition proposal.

There is no money in it.

Maybe to you, why do you care how someone else feels? I agree we love road-tripping in it.
Saying the Mach E ā€œis an excellent road trip carā€ seems like a more objective statement than just that you ā€œlove road-trippingā€ in the Mach E.

You can road-trip much faster, with far less anxiety, with similar comfort, in a great many ICE vehicles and, frankly a lot of others EVs. The Mach E is low on the scale of ā€œexcellenceā€ for road-tripping, objectively speaking.

Granted, some people like the challenge of carefully plotting their route. The excitement of hoping the charger works. The leisure of getting out of the car for about an hour every two hours. If you love those things, you do you!

My biggest fear is getting to that Walmart with DCFS chargers, finding no operational equipment whatsoever, or all chargers purposefully blocked by a pickup truck with a man-toy trailer, and having to ask a Walmart patron if I can follow them home and plug into their dryer socket for a day or so,

Yup. I stopped using the Mach-E for any trip exceeding 150 miles. Boy did I get a ton of flack for making a thread about it.

The simple fact is… unless you’re in a Tesla, don’t road trip with your EV. I genuinely feel none of the big automakers are taking charging infrastructure seriously. And that includes Ford with their ā€œdealerā€ charging stations plan.
My Mach E road trips just fine and now with in route preconditioning to DCFC it’s even better.

LIES!!!! Everybody knows it is EASY to road-trip in the Mach E! All it takes is ā€œa little planning.ā€
Shorter
No matter how much planning you do it’s not going to change the situation with having to spend an hour charging for every two hours of driving, or worse than that depending on charger locations. I really don’t like spending that much time in Walmart parking lots, which are the only places the fast chargers are located.
Stop charging to 100% and plan your stop’s better. I’ve never spent an hour at any stops I’ve made road tripping….…2.0 KWH on the expressway are going 100 up hill?

With the heavier and thirstier 4X configuration, in cold temps, at highway speeds of 75mph, 2-2.2mi/kWh is about right. And worse if you’ve got a headwind or decide to use ā€œluxuriesā€ like the heater.

During my routine 180mi road trips from Wichita to Kansas City, I depart with 100% charge and the battery supposedly pre-heated, and I arrive at between 5-10%. There is still no fast charging along that route unless you take the longer way through Topeka.
