I was doing some comparison builds with the new Ariya today and it looks like no Premiums or Selects are being offered right now. Not really a good look for Ford when you have nothing in between a bare bones model with AWD and their top trim, in my opinion. Things like this kinda makes me lose confidence in Ford's EV strategy.

Ordered 2022 Mach E select AWD

They are most likely getting the LFP batteries ready for the select/prem trims as those are the only ones that would be able to use them. They said they will be back to order

That's a good point. It's my understanding though the LFP's were only for standard battery packs.

The other issue is they have had to roll over orders to the next model year for the past two years which has cause some issues. So perhaps Ford is pausing orders to ensure production can meet current orders.

Yeah, CA Rt 1 is not a “bare bones” model, that’s the Select, and it’s not even really bare bones. If this makes you lose confidence in a maker’s EV strategy, I have to ask, where have you been for the last 2 years. This same crap has happened at BMW, Polestar, Tesla et al. They’ve all cut features or had delays on model availability.

I have a Rte 1. The only major difference from Select is the extended battery and glass roof.

I work in insurance and so vehicle accidents are on my mind quite a bit, especially here in Phoenix where the drivers are quite terrible (on par or as terrible as Southern CA drivers). I just like to check on the state of the EV industry and especially Ford. I don't discount that there are module and battery issues across many manufacturers. Just looking at the total picture of Ford's EV history, you can see there are a several missteps that you wouldn't expect from a legacy automaker. I'm not saying I would make a different choice if I had to get a new car today, I'm just disappointed that if I did, I'd only have two trims to choose from.

Idk what constitutes major differences for you but you obv know the CA gets BlueCruise 1.2, painted wheel opening moldings, aero wheels, heated steering wheel and seats, 360 camera standard. Maybe some other stuff. And, I always expect missteps from any maker in any model lineup’s infancy. From Ford to Lexus to Bentley and everywhere in between. None are perfect. Question is, how quickly do the improve?

Ford doesn't do a proper queue for orders, and they're selling out of capacity for this model year, that's all. One advantage this year however is more are popping up on dealer lots without markup so you don't necessarily have to go through the ordering process.
