Ok, so for anyone who doesn’t want to try deciphering this thread, here is the TL/DR version:

Ford has a problem on its end where OTA updates get “stuck” for some cars for some reason, most likely because certain modules haven’t been updated or were updated in a sequence Ford doesn’t recognize.

If you haven’t received an OTA in months - and you know there are OTA updates generally available such as the 4.2.X UI refresh - you need to call Ford, ask for connected services, explain problem, and insist on a dealership visit. You can also send @Ford Motor Company a DM to start a case.

Trying to fix this yourself via FDRS is futile and may make things worse. At least part of the problem is how your car is registered in Ford’s servers.

@Gullwingdmc link mentioned the MME is scared to update by itself in fear of a dead 12V?
I never said scared, you said that. I theorized the 12v battery might be why it waits to check for updates. I don’t see how driving the car is an inconvenience either.

Happy the software is auto maintaining (preparing for drive) this winter and running out of complaints. Will there be an update that maintains the 12V so it can install updates? ;) Only need a couple of things but it needs to update to get them.
I don’t think you need to worry about charging the 12V unless you are having messages about it or failed update attempts. The latest software maintains the 12V battery pretty well. You might just have to wait until the next time you drive into town to get some larger updates to install.

So basically no OTA fix at that stage if this happens to you. Probability of it happening? Do you have any specific power up that it is getting stuck on or can it be any power up? I no longer need updates and just two fixes. I saw 3.6.2 has a SOBDMC update and thought maybe when it got to me departure schedule would be in there.

That was me ;). I have a weird perspective on AI. When you have all your tech set up perfect it has been a slice. It is like windows 98 all over again. Time fixed that you have a decade?

Nothing failed and believe nothing pushed.

Agree 12V appears it is behaving well now and no further problems with 12V here for awhile. Do not monitor what is working too much. Found out how important it is and can not hurt throwing the charger on it this summer to increase longevity. Have one in the frunk and ports drilled.

The “fix” is to contact Ford and get them started on figuring it out. Getting the car into a service center. That’s the only thing that worked for me.

I don’t know the secret sauce on Ford’s end and, respectfully, I don’t think anybody here does. That’s what I’m trying to explain.

My May 21 Job 1 Mach-E no longer gets OTA updates unless they are forced by Ford to everyone.

My car has not received an OTA updates or phoned home to Ford to get any since it got a failed OTA in September 2022. Yes it is connected to my home Wi-Fi.

I have tried setting up scheduled times for updates, and allowing any time. According to my router and Unifi switches neither SYNC nor the tcu have tried to connect anywhere to download any updates.

CSP 22B28 for HVAC is the only download and install my Mach-E has performed since September 17. 2022. It completed on January 25. 2023.

I have used FDRS on a 2 day license to manually update my MME and to reprogram the GWM module. Still no phoning home. I applied GWM, steering module and Door security modules D and E updates. Now there are no other updates showing. No UI Refresh. Nothing.

My dealer won't diagnose my MME for not getting update. Their response is "We can't bill warranty work when the car has no errors on dash or is not malfunctioning on the road." Unless the car has a persistent alarm or mechanical failure, go away.

Any other Job 1 owners not getting updates for over 6 months?
Hi there – send a message to us with your VIN and approximate mileage. I’ll look into this for you. Thanks!
