Affects certain 2021-2022 Mach-E vehicles built on or before Feb 23, 2022.

Due to a bad or corroded wiring connection, the electric parking brake may experience an electrical fault during application or retraction. In limited cases, the parking brake may happen to fail in the applied position, causing the vehicle to become stuck. It's relatively rare so far. Dealers are to replace the rear parking brake connectors. TSB 22-2143 has previously been released for this issue.

A park brake fault may be displayed when the issue occurs. Proceed with caution and do not drive if the brakes feel like they're dragging.

I had the problem too. Luckily my car was driveable. A lot of Quebec owners had the problem due to quantity of salt used on our roads.

Do I have to wait for the part to fail/throw a code, or can I just make an appointment with a dealer at any time to get this part replaced?

I just scheduled one for next month, the service tech should be able to check your VIN to see if you are affected.

So do they just switch out the connector for this or do they have to do a whole wire repair in the guide? Looks kinda involved thing to do if you aren't experiencing this issue. Where is this connector located?

Just set an appointment and the rep told me it's a 3 to 4 hour process.

Today I had my scheduled 2-year service appointment and this popped up. I've had no problems with my parking break, but certainly would like to avoid this situation.

Downside is they can't order the part until they confirm seeing the car, so be prepared for a return visit. As I have no active issues with the car, I am able to have my car until the part arrives.

Why? The bulletin doesn't say that they have to look for a problem first. It says that the connectors should be replaced on all affected cars. Seems like they should be able to order the connectors in advance of an appointment.

I should have added that's what the service center told me, so… ??‍♂

But this just came out and the service rep said this was the first they saw it. That may be just their default response.

Doesn't need to fail first from what I can see right?

I've never had this problem before. I brought my car in for its 20k mile service today and they applied this recall. Drove home, parked the car, and I got this alert for the first time ever...
