CarPlay map pinch to zoom

I was given a Ford Escape as a loaner when they were fixing my HV connector.
It let me pinch to zoom on Apple Maps.
Why don’t we have that? WTF Ford!

Was the escape wired CarPlay or wireless?

At one point you could reposition the Google maps and Waze maps by just sliding your finger on the screen. For awhile now, you have to use one of the arrow keys. Adds to the distracted driving.
it would be nice to pinch, zoom and slide the map to see what’s ahead.

Yeah, it seems like Ford just hasn't fully optimized CarPlay in the Mach E yet. You can pitch to zoom in the native navigation but so far that's the only place I've seen it work.

Another example of it not being optimized yet, is that due to the display size, it can technically show 3 rows of apps on the main screen, but doesn't. Hopefully this will be changed in an update later on.

I didn’t know that. I thought double tap just zoomed in.

On the second tap, don't lift off, leave your finger on the screen and slide up or down to zoom in and out. This is a very handy trick for one handed zooming on your phone, too!

Kind of a weird omission since the Ford Nav is able to do multitouch pretty well. I think maybe someone forgot to turn on a setting or something.

Obviously the screen is capable. Maybe Ford wants to push people to use the built in one so they can make money on the subscription? ??‍
