I looked at a 2021 Mach-E today, and was told that Blue Cruise is not transferable, so would cost $75 a month or $800 a year to have added, even though I thought it should have it from the prior owner for 1 more year. I get paying for map updates, and put some value to having it integrated to help with determining charging stops. That is an awfully steep price for map updates, though.

A friend shared this with me.

Notice the annual or monthly options for BlueCruise. And also, Ford is watching the market to see our feedback. So, what do you think?

Thanks for posting, I was wondering how much they were going to ask. I thought <$5/month yes, >$10/month no. $75/month ? Who are they kidding ?

I have had blue cruise for 4 months now and at this point would not pay that kind of money unless there were substantial improvements. Even on the roads in Ohio where I have used it, it's not consistant and constantly goes in and out. It only likes straight lines with mild curves. That is hardly worth 800.00 a year.

interesting pricing. i am not near many BlueCruise mapped highways so $800/yr is not going to interest me. if the $75/mo option is a turn on/off option as needed i might do it on long road trips.

my guess is a low take rate unless lower they drop it nearer to $600-700/yr.
Probably lower...I can't imagine people paying more than $25-$50/month for this unless they are road warriors. Would be good to have it tier by usage, so unlimited @ $50/month or pay per day @ $5/day.

No way will I pay a subscription for a feature that is already built into the car.

Did a dealer tell you that? Unfortunately, most dealers know nothing about these cars (or BlueCruise).

No way! I seldom use it now.

Why not?:
1. It’s not proven yet - cars have crashed ( people have died in Teslas - I don’t know Ford’s history)

2. BlueCruise requires one to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Too uncomfortable for me at any price.

Yes, that's what the salesman at the dealership said. And yes, they unfortunately know far too little about the EVs they're selling. It isn't just Ford dealerships, though. I guess this is the price of wanting to go EV relatively earlier than most people? I ordered a CA1 last fall, and am more likely to buy that, depending on what I can do with my current EV. Saving money and getting a Premium were slightly tempting, but the Blue Cruise claim and the concern that it hasn't had the HVBJB replaced make the one on order probably a better choice for me.

I don't think it's just an EV thing. In my experience, dealers rarely know much about the cars that they sell, regardless of fuel type.

Not a chance I would pay anything for Bue Cruise. I got it for 3 years as part of my car. I have used it from time to time on the highway and its a neat feature but not worth paying extra for IMHO. Include it in the price of the car as a feature you can pay for if you want sure but no chance I am paying for a subscription for that feature.

I have only used it a handful of times in real situations. When I did use it, I mostly kept my hands on the wheel.
I wasn’t planning to continue the subscription.
I use it almost daily however I would not pay $75/month or $800/Yr for it. Not enough bang for that buck yet. Ford will have to bring more to the table for that dough, boy.

No way

how about 1 cent per mile used
for me that would be about $30/year

just for the convenience would do $10/month though

I use BlueCruise every day I drive to the office. Rarely does it require me to put my hands on the wheel. Most of the time I have my hands in my lap. Keeping your eyes on the road is something you should be doing, but I find that when it nags me to do so, I have had my eyes off of the road for an extended period of time. The times where it mistakenly admonishes me is usually due to the angle of the sun entering the windshield. Most of the time I can eliminate the false nagging by wearing polarized sunglasses.

I, too, use BC 1.2 every day with the lane changing feature. I like it a lot, but there are limits to what I will pay, even if I can afford it. Ford will have to find the sweet spot at which point we will pony (sorry) up the bucks. I'm not sure what that is for me and I love it. $10/mo or $100/year sounds about right, but push comes to shove I might go a little higher. I would get it for only one of our cars, because my wife hasn't used it once and has no interest.

What is certain is that $800 per year WILL NOT be the final price. That's clear from this thread.
