Baring a camping trip, and even then sometimes, I have been logging into this forum on almost a daily basis for over a year. I often have visited it several times a day.

I placed an order for a Mach-E on 3/11/2022. We took delivery on 5/10/2023.

I have had a blast here. That said, the car is here and it’s not really mine, it’s my wife’s. It is fantastic. She loves it. She has owned BMW’s and MB in the past. (BMW being her favorite) Before the Mach-E her car was a X4 M BMW. She loves her Mustang more.

Now that it’s here, I’m a little deflated. I don’t really get the opportunity to drive it. I enjoy looking at FordPass and seeing what’s going on. But… what now?

I’m jealous, and that’s not fun. I’m trying to embrace my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth again. It’s a fun car.

My daily driver is my 2018 F150. I love that truck, it’s the 5.0 RWD so it’s fun for a truck.

But I wish I had an electric.
Ha!
I’ll keep coming back to this forum, but it’s just not the same. If the car was mine it might be.

Anyone else experience this?

My wife and I share our cars and trade off often. We view them as primary car (MachE) and backup car, (highlander). It's easier in our case I wfh, she works part time local. But I would say on days you know you will be driving more take the MachE. It's cheaper to put the miles on your EV.

Go trade that 2018 F-150 for a '22 Lightning Lariat mannequin. Then we'll see who's jealous of whom.

Love that idea! I only have one perceived problem. I tow a Lance 2445 travel trailer. I’m worried about the experience with the more limited range. My F150 has the 36 Gallon tank so I can get to most of our campsites on one tank. Unhook, then fill up before going home. But man! I do want a Lightning.

You need to hop over to the Lightning forum and whet your appetite even further. Some good posts about towing with the Lightning as well.

The dreaded CACS. I haven’t had to chance to watch a lot of tv ads lately. Does a drug company make a pill for it? Preferably one that doesn’t cause explosive diarrhea.

There's this purple capsule with a yellow stripe. Prevents having to choose between the blue pill and the red pill. Side effects include curling of the hair, growing a tail and a snout, and being able to track a 6 day old pheasant scent trail. ??

Poor, dear Anthropod. Yes, I know how you feel. Not of my spouse's vehicle, but of new, technological advances in fuels and really anything techie. I researched, had so so many questions for BEV drivers that I randomly met. I finally purchased a "smart new" '21 Mach-E AWD Premium with extended battery. I LOVE IT EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT!

However, you may want to wait another year. Mostly for the advances in range. You will be kicking yourself when you head out camping and towing the weight of your camper drains your battery down. A lot! Drive your wife's MME when you can, in the meantime.

Wait for range break throughs and then get that nice big truck! Make sure it has a reverse charge and you'll be powering your house off it when there's a power outage emergency. (Always a plus.)

I experienced this for about 3 weeks, right down to daily driving a 2018 F-150 (though I like the 3.5 L ecoboost over the 5.0). Couldn’t take it. Went and bought my own MME. So we’ve been a 2 MME family for over 2 years and the F-150 is just for towing/hauling. Amazing how few miles I actually NEED to burn gas for.

Having towed a No Boundaries 19.8 from from the east coast to the west coast and back behind a Lightning, I can assure you that it is a very competent tow vehicle. Your Lance will cause some additional range hit over our NoBo but probably not a lot. Aerodynamics matter more than weight.

Yes, you will have to tow a bit differently than you do with a 36 gallon tank. However, it really depends on where you tow more than anything else whether the Lightning will suffice for your needs.

See our trip thread for details:

I’m jealous, and that’s not fun. I’m trying to embrace my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth again. It’s a fun car.
So, replace the Abarth with your own Mach E and double your fun!

Lol. Mach-E is my wife's car and my daily is a 2019 F150 with the 5.0. I know how you feel.

I really like the Lightning, but it just doesn't make sense for me. I paid $39k for my truck and a Lightning Lariat would cost twice as much while having less capability in many respects (my 750mi range being one of them).

I'm going to continue with my 2019 until some of the 2nd generation pickups come out, I think.
