BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free driver-assist system, will be available in 500,000 vehicles by 2024. And a Level 3 system, which is also called conditional or unsupervised autonomy, will be first available in Ford’s next-generation EVs.

I may be alone, but I’m honestly not super excited about any of these “levels.”

Bluecruise is barely better than my wife’s Lincoln that has lane keep assist and intelligent cruise control.

In fact in some ways I prefer the lane keep on the Lincoln. For one- it’s always active. I don’t have to hit special buttons or be on a special road. And also it doesn’t hug one side.

Yeah, I have to keep my hands on the wheel, but I feel safer on the highway doing that anyways.

So basically lvl 2- I hit more buttons, requires more “special criteria” and the only advantage is I can pay less attention (hands off the wheel).

Level 3? I kinda feel the same way- can just pay less attention, but likely even harder to get in that mode and available in even less areas.

Oh, and that’s before they charge you $$$$$$.

Well presumably this would still be called BlueCruise, just with added functionality. So they would be fixing the product they have, we just won’t get it in our cars.
