Cruising at 45 mph on a rural 2 lane road, a deer races out right to left in front, I get on brakes quick but still smacks left front-center of hood and bumper.
Had a similar deer hit 5 years ago with an Edge Sport and that damage was $2,500. This at 3X was a bit surprising.. but those parts mentioned are nearly 50% of cost.
- Bent 8” of hood front lip down at 45 degrees.
- Cracked left headlight when it appears it was pushed into fender.
- Cracked front bumper trim ring left of center.
- Opened/changed panel gaps between fenders, hood, left headlight and left door.
- Estimator said force transferred center leftside.
- Estimator said it’s possible there could be internal damage but car didn’t indicate any systems affected, front shutters operate correctly. He also commented that aluminum requires a different approach than steel, including tools, adhesives.
- Replacement parts include trim, hood, left headlight, possibly bumper cover or other internal parts (windshield washer reservoir as an example, it was empty so could be cracked).
