Jim, you forgot to mention that it has the ugliest front grill since the Edsel. ? And if your state requires front license plates, it gets even uglier!

And it is downright crazy to have that huge front with no frunk!

For 2024 they are adding an AWD option called the xDrive40 to slot below the M50. I can't find any motor specs, but considering BMW puts batteries in the driveshaft and transmission tunnel and the xDrive40 has the same listed battery specs, I don't think it will be a single motor AWD setup.

In January, I traded in my 2022 Mach E GTPE for a slightly used (1000 mi) 2022 BMW i4 M50. I do not regret it.
I sold my 2021 Mach E GT (for a profit) and then ~6 months later picked up an i4 M50. I prefer the room and the exterior looks of the MME. Everything else, I prefer the M50, particularly the charging settings and user interface, the smooth ride, and the power. Good lord, the power.. ~20mph faster 1/4 mi. trap speed, and reaches its governed top speed (124mph) in about 12.5 seconds. Not that I would ever do that. I have about 9000 miles on it so far, and its been flawless.

I had ordered a gray/red interior M50, same color scheme that Jim test drove. Ended up with a Black/black that another customer didn't take delivery of, which disguises the less-than-attractive front grill, because the order was taking forever. Its still difficult to find M50s, but the e40s and e35s are much more available.

When (or if) Ford fixes the 5-second rule, and the terrible ride, I will consider a MMEGT again. I have owned Fords all my life and want them to succeed.

I thought that (ugliness) was a given. At least it’s not as bad as Tesla.

I love Iconic Sounds while in Sport mode.

As for the i4's looks, I tell people that I can't see the fugly front grill while I'm driving!

I ordered a Tanzanite blue/black M50, but when the opportunity arose to get this used San Remo green/oyster, I snapped it up. It's been 11 months, and I still haven't even received a production number on the one I ordered.

The sounds were definitely cool - and a LOT more pronounced than the Mustang Mach E sounds. The people around here, ripping out the propulsion sound speaker would really be triggered by the BMW! ???
The M50 is way out of my price range. The M40 is also at the tippy top of what I fantasize as “affordable”. Realistically, if I ever got one, I wouldn’t even be able to afford the gas to fill the tank ?

Which is why I sold my i4 e40 even though it was a superior vehicle compared to the MME.

Other than autocross events and track nights... I barely drove the i4. Multiple times I picked the MME and Jeep for family/co-worker outings over the i4 and when I did use the i4 - folks complained about the rear space. I understand why sedan sales have plummeted so much.

With that said... I have to say the Rivian R1S is the most practical of them all. Tons of space. Wickedly fast acceleration. Decent range, ride quality, audio. Not huge either.
