Today I had my car in because it drained my 12v battery during the 4.3.6 update - had to jump it. While in, I talked to my guy at Ford. He updated my module and enabled my Frunk button. My life is complete.

I had mine in for some other stuff and was told that they were going to install a bluecruise related "recall" update. I asked if they could do the BCM and GFM while they were at it. My dealer said that should be included as part of this update. It wasn't and I didn't realize until I was back home. I called the dealer closest to me (different dealer) and they quoted 5 hours at a bit over a grand. The one I use most of the time quoted an hour of labor at $185 out the door. I'm not sure that a functioning frunk button is worth $185 when it *might* show up in an OTA at any point.

He did the update in less than an hour. My dealership takes care of me as I have a fleet of vans and trucks from there for my company. I asked him if all modules were up to date then explained my job 1 never had a frunk release. He updated all modules that hadn't been ( not a ton as I am there often enough) and was done with everything in less than 1 hour. Didn't cost me a dime.

Let's not get too crazy now. I don't have that high of expectations.

Do you have the button in FordPass or on the Sync 4A screen? I have the Frunk activation on the B-pillar keypad only.

If it works with 7/8 on the door you can easily enable it with FORScan.

Now if only I could get the motion detection to stay off life would be grand. Makes taking the car on a ferry messy as I have to make sure it stays unlocked.

BCM took me 6 minutes and the GFM took me 4.

Afterwards I gave myself chocolate chip cookies for a job well done.

It's not complete until you get a Lightning-based key fob. I got mine off of eBay already installed with correct button graphics and programmed it myself. I will auto-start sometimes from my iPhone or Apple Watch, but don't use PaaK at all. So having the fob capabilities is awesome.

Same got my Lightning fob from eBay too - programmed for the frunk release since I carry my keys around.

PAAK works most of the time but not 100% reliable yet.
