I think a lot of what we're going through is the pain of transitioning the dealership system into something else or a better version of the current system. I also think people aren't giving enough credence to just how disruptive the pandemic is. Yeah, I'm tired of hearing about it too, but it's well beyond the automakers, every manufacturing sector from the guys who make tiny springs to those who assemble an aircraft are hugely impacted and nearly completely disrupted. I'm trying to get a subcompact tractor for our 10 acres (going on 6 months now). Yeah, good luck with that.Luckily for Ford people will forget this in ~17 seconds and the Mach-E will be a hit. Just look VW... diesel-gate has been forgotten, ID3 sitting for months because of their rush to market, forgotten. Remember when Elon said heat pumps were stupid (not his exact words)... forgotten. Not trying to start a fight about VW or tesla, just easy examples regarding our short-term memory.
It's a pet-peeve of mine.
The service sector isn't immune either. The U.S. ALPA represented passenger airlines have over 500 pilots in quarantine with confirmed cases of COVID most traced to work or work related. Flight Attendant numbers are higher and the freight airlines have been working people to death (not literally) while suffering similar issues.
We just see the end result and wonder how any of this could be real. Bad management! I think we all realize that's not true though. In the end, all of these annoyances we have will fade into vague memories as we finally get our MME's and enjoy the car Ford built. Or whatever make and model we might ultimately choose.
Your mileage may vary (literally).
