Dumb question. Do I have to be in the car to see what current versions I'm on? The Fordpass app has a section about software updates, but it appears to be only about scheduling them.

There should be a section called “Recent Changes” in the software update section. That’s where you can see the latest update to the car.

Does that section show up regardless of whether there are recent changes or not? Because I don't have that section. Granted I've only had the car 3 weeks.

They never notified me either, I went on the website a few weeks after applying and it said invited.

Took me over a year to get on the EA. It's a long wait.

Yes, it just shows the latest update to the car, even if the update is a month old. Should look something like this:

Took me over a year to get on the EA. It's a long wait.

I'll consider myself lucky with 6 weeks. This probably has more to do with the configuration and year of the vehicle

ok, so that sounds like the answer to my original question is no - that you can't see what versions of software you currently have in the app.

LOL I am behind that, but I don’t care enough about the changes since my last OTA to buy an FDRS license and install manually. ?‍?

It could be “stuck.” There are a number of people whose cars are OTA stuck. This condition needs to be fixed by your dealer. It could be as simple as updating a module in order to fix it. It might require the replacement of a module (rare). ??

I applied for EA maybe a month ago, and am waitlisted. But a couple of days ago, I got a mail from the EA program about another thing they were offering me early access to, and their mail stated "While we are currently at capacity for participants in the general Early Access Program, we would like to offer you the opportunity..."

So either they have a cap on their EA membership, or they were just making that up to make me feel better...

make sure you set the update schedule. I set mine every day at 10 am. Right after that I got an update downloading message.
