The HVJB recall didn't come soon enough and I guess I got I got in the end. However despite the very scary warnings in the app, the car only says schedule service soon. I'm guessing the app messages (which are to contact road side assistance for a tow) are from before the software recall update. It is very driveable, has less power for sure, but it's fine. Trying to get in to the dealership, but it takes time, and I'm guessing they won't have the part anyway. So is it ok to drive around in limp mode as long as you aren't dcfc and open throttling?

I did this for about 200+ miles and I then got an intermittent Stop Safely Now...

So, "it depends" how close to welding your contactor relays are.

See my dash pic now. I understand that's how the combined SVS (orange wrench) and SSN (red car) warning icons look.

Limp mode. Won’t be enjoyable but should be safe until you’re able to see your doctor.
……..
oh you were talking about the car. never mind. Should get it to the dealer right away.

That’s exactly how mine looked for six months. The red car icon does not mean Stop Safely Now. It means high voltage powertrain fault, which may or may not be a SSN error. You have to go by the words shown on the screen, not the icon. An intermittent SSN is probably a shifter fault.

Why didn't you aks for it back while the part came in?
Because I’d have to arrange for a ride two more times then on my days off. Which means almost a two hour round trip for them. Not worth the hassle, so I just waited.

In answer to the title of the thread: No, it’s not crazy. ??

Most people have no issue with an SVS notice on their dashboard. There are a few of us who got an SSN notice before getting the car into service, but we are outliers. ?‍♂?

I was stuck that way for about a month before my dealer could get parts and an appointment. I put on quite a few miles but didn’t get too far from my home county.
Once your car has reached “limp mode” it is protecting itself from further damage. The problem is when some cars don’t detect the damaged contractor and skip limp mode, instead going right to rigor mortis mode.

The only problem with driving in that mode is the lack of fun. ?

To answer my own question, dealership said

" The vehicle will have to remain with us because it is currently not safe to drive as it may lose all power randomly or even cause more damage "
