Ford's president and CEO plainly and unambiguously promised it via OTA by this summer.
Ok, I’ll bite. What, exactly, did Farley say? What “it” did he promise by summer?

They didn't START until fall.
That’s definitely not true. They started in Summer. It have been VERY LATE Summer. We know roll out to EA customers was no later than September 28. There’s a roll out to Ford’s employee lease cars before that. You can count on that starting more than a week before the public gets it.

Hell, it's almost closer to winter now than to summer 2023.
I’d love to see your calculations on that one.

They biffed it.
Now we’re on the same page. Something has gone wrong with the updates that caused them to put the brakes on.

We’ve seen a number of small problems with this rollout (mirrors resetting to not opening, voice commands failing, etc). These weren’t bad enough to stop the roll out. If something is bad enough that they want to stop the rollout, I certainly don’t want it in my car. Do you?

Keep in mind the lightning's 6.3 is the MMEs 6.2. Seems updates of all platforms has stalled for now. Given the recent release of all sorts of updates regarding the HVBJB, it appears efforts were being put elsewhere.

I was using 1.0 on 75 north of atlanta earlier and it's just hot garbage. Couldn't keep it enabled.
Yeah. It wouldn’t surprise me to see then put all hands on deck to complete what’s needed for the recall.

Yes but that hold is now broader than 2021s. Anyone who has not yet received 6.2.0 is likely to be on hold at 6.1.0 for a while.
Is the issue with just OTA or the actual modules? Has it been pulled from FRDS? Would there be harm if like a ‘21 pushed through everything available in frds…?

Sorry. I’m no expert on what’s in FDRS.

See post 29. Clear, unambiguous.
Sure. Let’s look at what Farley said:

summer.PNG

I’m assuming you aren’t questioning that BC1.3-equipped Mach Es started rolling out from the factories.

If you’re talking about “later this summer to existing BlueCruise-equipped Mach Es via a software update”, you are right. He mis-Tweeted. It requires more than one updates. However, those updates did start rolling out by late summer. VERY late summer. See post #46.

Dude, did Farley cut you a check at that meet up? The official end of summer was September 22nd this year. Most people view Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer. Both of those dates were missed for even the first OTA that will eventually lead to BC 1.3.
Ford has elevated over-promising and under-delivering to an art form. They eventually delivered BC 1.0 to most owners. Any decent organization would have determined the root cause of the many errors in that process and fixed them prior to announcing 1.3 was coming OTA. The best thing Ford could do is keep their mouth shut until they are certain they can deliver.

Disagree about them being quiet.

I prefer they tell us their goals, plans, anticipated rollouts, etc.

If they waiting until they are certain on the dates of anything……. We wouldn’t hear about anything in advance.

Were they a week late on “later summer?” I dunno, maybe? Not sure when the first OTA was sent. But in the scheme of things…… not really worried about a week delay.

Until the FINAL update for 1.3 comes out, when you got the first one doesn’t really matter anyways.

FWIW, I haven’t gotten 5.1 or any 6 update and I’m EA.

But I get to use BC 1.3 the same as everyone else that doesn’t have a 23.5 anyways, so I’m trying not to sweat or complain…….yet.

Dude, is basic math beyond you? We know that 6.1.0 rolled out to EA no later than 9/28.

We also know the BC 1.3 update takes at least 5 separate, sequential updates. Do you really think Ford could install 5 sequential updates, test them, and approve them to move on to phase 2 (EAP) in less than 6 days?

As I agreed above, Ford clearly made mistakes in these updates and that’s why they’ve halted the whole thing.

Now, on a personal note:
@BMT1071 : Either apologize publicly here for accusing me of being some sort of paid stooge or I’m done with you on this forum. Friendly disagreements are one thing. Personal attacks and accusations are way off base.

If that works for you, great. I've given Ford a lot of rope with this car. I only complained on here a few times that it took until Thanksgiving week last year to get BC 1.0 delivered to my car OTA. Yes, I know I could've gone to a dealer sooner, but even that process was fraught. It's gotten to the point where they're making themselves look incompetent by announcing dates for updates that they are not able to actually deliver.
There's a saying at dealerships that is often used when they are being asked to do something for free. "We're running a business, not a charity". I think that applies in the opposite direction as well. Ford is running a business that has already taken a lot of our money, and will soon be looking for more as subscription renewals come due. I'm running out of charity for one of the country's largest automakers.

I think I give them a little more rope with BC 1.3 because it’s not an update I particularly care much about. I don’t drive on the highway much and when I do, BC 1.0 works fine for me. Not sure I even want to use it to change lanes, although I’ll wait to make final judgement until I try it.

But for those eagerly waiting for it……… I get it.

That’s how I feel about whatever OTA May be coming for the GT power limit. And if they actually gave us a timeline……then delayed…… yeah, expect some complaints for sure.

BTW, there’s another software fire For is currently putting out. A large number of Lightnings were delivered without the heated steering wheel due to a chip shortage.

Very recently Ford announced customers could come into their dealers to get the steering wheel heater undeleted. Unfortunately, when customers started rolling in there was an issue — with the software. Ford is having to fix that software issue right now as well.

Many of us have certainly been receiving OTAs to bring us Blue Cruise. They were first reported here on September 28. It's just that none of us have received the last of those OTAs yet.
That's...the whole point. Who cares when the updates start? When they finish is what's meaningful. And no one has received 1.3 via OTA yet, more than half-way through Fall.

And the Power Ups started September 28. What's your point?
Well you know what they say about "assume" don't you.

The difference is I'm not assuming.
This is pretty cringeworthy to read. ?‍♂ ?‍♂ ?‍♂

I’m certain the Ford employees quoted here were hopeful the rollout of BC 1.3 would go smoother than it has. Has Ford’s found out their software updates aren’t going as smoothly as they wanted? Certainly.

I was really hoping to have BC 1.3 by now. However, I received BC 1.0 almost a year late and still don’t have a fully functional frunk. These things take time. If you’ve been paying any attention you would know Ford is working to make these upgrades to our cars but it’s sometimes a struggle.
Why are you defending Ford's software incompetence so stridently? What do you gain from this?

Updates started late summer (as promised)
Wrong, and also irrelevant. No one cares when the updates start.

and it’s only been a month and people have already gotten 3 or 4 updates in that month period.
Irrelevant. All that matters is when BC 1.3 is installed and functioning.

That’s definitely not true. They started in Summer. It have been VERY LATE Summer.
...
I’d love to see your calculations on that one.
Wrong again. Fall began 9/23/23 this year in the Northern Hemisphere.

WTAF? That’s uncalled for even by Internet forum decorum. Really dude? A differing opinion is that offensive to you that you resort to ad hominem attacks?

If the safety delays in pushing Blue Cruise 1.3 is the hill you wanted to die on, congratulations — you just did. You might want to seriously consider selling the car and moving on, life’s too short for this level of frustration.
