Hi everyone - bit of a weird thing happened a few days ago while in my work commute in my 2021 Premium that has 3200 miles on it.

Had charged the night before with my 24A Level 2 charger at home and was at 90% when setting off. No hard accelerations, just regular commute driving (about 15 minute ride that is 70% freeway, 30% city streets).

Going about 70mph, the dash lit up with the "stop safely now" (SSN) warning about 4 minutes from work. Car did not lose power and I had about a mile or so to go until my exit so I got into the right lane in case it died but kept going as that part of the freeway is really not a safe place to stop. Was waiting for the car to die, but the vehicle seemed fine so I kept going at low speed on the local streets.

I parked at work and turned off and back on - the warning for "stop safely now" was still there.

I decided to try to drive it to the dealership at lunch time taking local streets only in Whisper mode ready to use Ford pass to get a flatbed rescue at any time. When I started the car, the warning for stop safely now was gone. It drove the 15 miles to the dealership without an issue which took about 30 minutes on the local streets.

The dealership was pretty useless to me. Since the warning "stop safely now" was gone and the HVBJB recall that applies to my car is still only a pre-action notice, their hands were tied according to them. I could leave the car there but the shop was super backed up with regular work so they wouldn't be looking at it any time soon and they weren't going to loan me a car if the MME was driving normally.

So I'm now waiting for the recall on my MME to become active and sort of hoping the warning light stays off in meantime. The dealership recommended limiting hard acceleration and to minimize use of Level 3 charging until the recall becomes active and this can be addressed. I only used Level 3 once before and that was when I first picked it up to bring home.

The vehicle drove home fine after I left the dealership, still in Whisper mode.

Has anyone had this happen before where the "Stop Safely Now" warning triggered but no power loss and then the warning subsequently went away? Everything I've read says the warning comes, the MME loses power and the HVBJB gets replaced by the dealership.

Stop Safely Now does not automatically equal failed HVBJB. There are other things that can cause that message. Did the dealership look check to see if your car has any DTCs? (They can do this without needing to even connect to your car.) If not, I suggest you go to the big FDRS thread and post your VIN there and ask someone to check for DTCs.

Also did you have any recent updates? Some people have had momentary glitches after an update. I guess I would be nervous for a bit but my guess is it may have just been a glitch. If the HVBJB was bad enough for a SSN it would not repair itself. That normally means fused shut or stuck open contactos when the SSN is thrown for a HVBJB issue. A previously mentioned that is not the only reason. You could also see if someone on the forum can see what error codes may be in your vehicle.

They did not really look at the car at all since the EV certified techs were slammed with regular repair work. I'll definitely check out the FDRS thread and post my VIN to check.

Not aware of any updates. I've only had the car a month and I'm still a little unf.amiliar with the update process. Does it pay a notification if an automatic update was download and installed? I'll check to see if any updates are available. The last time I checked, it said there were none.

Sometimes people will experience an error after an update but it clears itself. Hopefully you can get someone to check if any error codes are in your system. I have to admit that I would be slightly apprehensive if I were in your shoes but I would probably still just drive like normal. Hopefully Ford gets the recall for the HVBJB moving along and you can get yours replaced.

Today was the first day of driving since the day the weirdness happened. Car seemed pretty normal - kept in Whisper mode, but I don't think I'll necessarily need to keep doing that if it keeps performing OK.

I'll follow-up about the DTCs for anyone else that has this issue and stumbles onto this thread.

Whisper really does not change much power usage wise so no need to keep it in that mode. Many blame failure on multiple WOT’s but from my reading it seems more like long sustained high power results in the most SVS occurrences. Reality though is damage to HVBJB contactors is probably cumulative and at some point it reaches the threshold that throws the error.

Feel a bit dumb asking this, but will I need some hardware to talk to the car or would somebody with a license for FDRS be able to look for DTCs only using my VIN number?

Send VIN to me and I’ll check later.

Lee is one of the (extremely helpful) people on the forum who can look up the status of your car remotely. AFAIK he can see pretty much everything that a Ford dealership can see (though he knows far more than a typical Ford dealership).

If you want to check for DTCs yourself (as well as a lot of other info about your car), you can by getting an OBD2 reader and using the free CarScanner app. If you're interested, download the app and take a look at its recommendations for OBD2 readers. There are many and not all are created equal.

Sent a DM, thank-you!
Unfortunately I'm not able to check for codes on your car because your settings may be blocking connectivity. Make sure these settings are turned on (these also ensure features in FordPass will function correctly):

Ford Mustang Mach-E Stop Safely Now Warning but Vehicle Seemed OK FC4B1FBC-31EF-4A2E-A846-35CC7C072488

After turning the settings on, restart the car and go for a drive. I can check again after that. Although it's possible we might have missed the error code with nothing recorded since the connectivity was not functioning at the time of the incident.

Ok, will get the settings corrected and let you know once I've taken for a drive.

I just checked and my settings were like this...

I then unchecked and rechecked them in case that helps.

Haven't taken for a drive yet but will do so shortly and post back.
