More from instafeve! In her description on this image, Corey explains how she and Jon Palmer are a few of the engineers that are part of the hands-free drive testing Mother of All Road Trips (MOART). This is for the Active Drive Assist capability being delivered next year.

I think it's very cool how they are incorporating REAL ART into their MO-ART.

Testing isn't all just going for a joyride and good times. I test 4-6 pairs of running shoes a year. It can be tiring. There's a lot of work to being a tester. A lot of fun too.

I got to see a Rapid Red and Infinite Blue with the Mach-E tour last week. Here's a video I made with some footage of both:

I Think it's unfair you get to upload your video a day earlier than the rest of the big-time reviews.
Who knows maybe you have some pull and get to first.
Just makes your video that much better.

Some various thoughts:
  • I should have showed the steering wheel adjustments. It is manual - I know some people wanted power adjustments.
  • The view outside the rear window via the rear view mirror is not great but it is not bad. The Tesla Model Y is horrible.
  • The door entry is confusing for everyone the first time, but then becomes very natural.
  • The glass roof does look great from the rear, but I didn't notice it much sitting in the drivers seat.
  • I really hope they add an electronic release for the frunk.
But overall, I think the interior is really, really nice. Comparing it to my 2011 Subaru WRX, there is a world of difference in the quality. My WRX is very plastic, harsh, and low tech. This feels high end to me -- nice materials, nice stitching, good color selections. And comparing it to a Model Y I test drove -- the Y was like high tech IKEA furniture. The Mach-E didn't feel as spacious, but it felt more luxurious and had a hint of the Mustang cockpit feel to it.

Changing ingrained habits is a bit confusing at first. Door handles have always been in the same spot regardless of their actual configuration. This is different. My opinion as well is that we'll get used to it fast.

As near as I can tell there's no legal requirement that is preventing an electronic release for the Frunk. Several Porche's have large frunks and all have electronic release (keyfobs etc). My guess (and it is exactly that) is that there is an issue with the emergency "I'm trapped" release and the electronic opening system for the frunk that we would use. That could possibly be related to the various speed limitations for how far a trunk opens when released from within. Again just a guess.

I should have showed the steering wheel adjustments. It is manual - I know some people wanted power adjustments.
Not an issue for me. Every vehicle we own has manual steering wheel adjustments. I'm content with that feature, less to break.
