I charged at an Electrify America station on Christmas Day and they charged me for receiving almost 99 kWh charge ($47.77). When I looked at me ford pass app, it stated I went from 20% to 80% which is about 54.6 kWh, and should have been around $26.21. I contacted EA about the issue and this is the response they gave me. Has anyone else had this issue?

Also, I’m sure Ford wouldn’t have anything to do with refunding the amount from EA? I could be wrong.

Did you put it on a credit card? If so I’d dispute with your credit card. You have proof from the FordPass app the machine delivered less energy than it claims it did. If you used an Amex they’ll make sure you’re taken care of.

Before you do that, I’d try calling Ford and see if they can do anything that way you can at least tell your CC company you did try to dispute it with the vendor first.

This has been reported by others on here. Basically, what happens is that your bill includes the energy consumed by the person that charged before you. I would think that by now EA would be aware that this happens and be sympathetic if you contact them.

I have never had this happen before. I have used EA before and it was free, so I guess this is recoupment (payback) for the machine making someone else for that charge. Still, not my fault so it shouldn’t be my problem. Also, I noticed they updated their prices to $0.48 per kWh.

You charged on your Ford account, contact Ford.

I’ve had this happen to me twice. First time about two months ago, second time three weeks after. Same charger. I charge using my EA membership, so they refunded me $30 each time, which was about triple the amount I was due to be refunded, so I guess that part was okay.

The second time was a pain, though. I had to literally do the math for them in my email response back to them because they originally stated that “after careful review” they found nothing wrong. Morons.

This is over the top BUT remember the charger is not just charging the battery it is also feeding the battery Heater and cabin - up to about 6kW.
You can see with CarScanner and it makes a difference especially when charge rate is slow… say 40kW and so only 34kW is charging the battery … welcome to colder weather charging...

Unfortunately where I travel weekly east of Toronto along the 401, the stations along the highway are always slow (and often not working…) no matter what the state of charge…. so more energy used and longer time waiting to charge…

How do you get anywhere on the 401? We have a show here in the US and it appears that the 401 is constant gridlock with semi's crashed, jackknifed, burning or dumping their contents. 7x24x365! At least that is what they show. LOL

A similar thing happened to be at the EA in Fredericksburg VA the week before Christmas. I had the EA plus pass at the time so i didn’t go through my plug and charge function of the MME. EA said I received 56kwh in 13 minutes which I wish was true! And charged me $20.
I contacted EA about this and told them i even have screenshots of the car scanner app showing that the total energy in my car is way under the amount delivered. They said that they would flag the charger and also refund me. They refunded my EA account a couple days ago.

This is dangerous advice. Disputing a credit card transaction is the nuclear option, typically reserved for when you're planning to permanently sever ties with a company. Hardly worth the risk for the small dollar amounts at issue, but that's me.

I only advised to do it if both parties declined to help.
