Haven't seen this for a while, but can anyone fill me in on whether or if the extra 3 kWh will be unlocked for early Mach-E's? I have a '21 Job 2 and as far as I can tell, its still operating with an 88 kWh usable battery vs. a 91 kWh usable.

Depends who you ask. Some say yes, some say no. Ford hasn't officially said.

How do you know?
Shouldn't you get 91 kWh if you are charged to 100% and look up the data on an OBDII? Perhaps adjusted by your vehicle's SoH?

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the charge power limit, which is at 88.2 kWh for my 2023 standard battery pack. I'm on powerup 6.7 so if it's going to increase it hasn't for me yet.
(I know I'm at 17% charge, just waiting for my solar panels to get peak power lol)

I'll post an update once I'm 100% charged to see if it goes any higher (doubtful)

2+ years and 38K miles of driving experience. I'm not seeing any changes (empirical, but I pay attention to detail) in either actual driving range or estimated range given similar external conditions (temp, weather, elevation, etc.). I can't guarantee that its only using the 88kWh - I haven't hooked up an OBDII reader to monitor - but I've never seen the 'step-change" that the extra 3 kWh should have produced. I also haven't seen any appreciable/noticeable degradation in that time. My acid test is whether I can drive from my house down to Denver and then to Grand Junction on a 100% charge (~270 miles total). The 5 or 6 times I've done this, with equivalent weather, I can arrive in GJ with between 11% and 15% remaining battery.

It is lower with the lower temperature, so it's another factor to consider.

So if temps are around 75-80, measure stored energy via OBDII at 100% SoC, adjusting for SoH?

No, we are talking about Energy in kWh right above the Charge Power Limit.

does not sound like you really know whether it was unlocked or not. not sure why you think a 3% increase in battery would be a noticeable "step change", 3 kwh is like 9 extra miles.

degradation, temperature, driver temperament, traffic, elevation would all play a bigger factor than that, i don't see it as enough for you to notice using the methods you're describing...

Go here and scroll down to July of 2022 and the "unnumbered" entry. That battery increase was delivered via OTA (or FDRS powertrain updates) back then.

I don't think it's very reliable - I had 100% at 51.8F battery temperature showing 63.38 one time and 60.89 another, with the same 93% SOH.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Was unsure whether the capacity increase was actually delivered via OTA. This makes it look like it was delivered at the same time as the charging curve improvement (which I have defintely seen).
