Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a GT from a guy in Germany, and afterwards I realized the trunk cover was missing (see image). I asked Ford and it seems it would cost around €350 to get it. I saw somewhere on the internet the cover is actually not really functional, so I am curious about other opinions. Is there a better option for this cover or should I get the original cover back?

Mine works great. Never had an issue. Easy to pop in or out if I am going to be transporting something that it might interfere with.

As a Basic Select owner I don't have one. I think its main purpose is to keep others from seeing what's in the trunk. That's easily done with a blanket.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

The cover disconnects too easily. I’ve had it blow off one corner just on moderate wind.

I like that it is flexible so that you don’t have to remove it for slightly taller objects.

My main problem is that people can see what I have in the trunk. Does anyone know the original part number?

I had the tint on my rear windows darkened to roughly 95% tint (5% transmission). I can't see anything inside of my car unless it's on the front seats. It might be less expensive to get the rear window tinted than to get the cover. ?‍♂?

The trunk cover is pretty terrible. You're not missing out on anything. I un-installed it second day of ownership. Mine just sits underneath the cargo floor board unused. ?
That's where mine sits as well.

+1 for the stock shade is terrible.

If you like to drive with a window (or windows) open, it blows the shade all over and can easily disconnect from the supports.

I have looked at normal retractable covers on Amazon in the US (don't know about Germany availability) but they have mixed reviews.

It functions just fine. It hides the shit in the trunk. I’ve had 0 issues with mine in the last 2 years I’ve had the car.

I don’t know about others, mine has a very positive click when it snaps in. Enough tension that I’m afraid I’ll break it when I’m taking it off, which hasn’t been very often.

The cover on mine is useless. If I roll down the windows it pops out of its mounts. I took it out and had my rear window tinted.

Mine pops off easily if I drive with the windows open. I like having the cover but I'm not sure I'd pay to replace it.

Here's the U.S. part number: LJ8Z-58550A74-AC. It ranges from $185 to about $271 over here.

I leave a large canvas paint tarp in the cargo area. It's relatively lightweight and a very effective cover or protection for items back there. Plus it's easy to move from one vehicle to another. (It was previously in my Fiesta.)
