I honestly don't see the big deal, pulled up a picture of ours from 2022

You have the distance indicator and lane departure turned on in that picture. In the old version if you turned those off it would go back to the normal, better looking, layout. I never drive with any of those on, except when I’m using BlueCruise.

I had to laugh as I read this thread and I never even knew the speed could have been in the center. Two-plus years into MachE driving and I never turned off the driver assist stuff for lane departure or lane centering cruise so that little car was just always there in the center. Having that stuff on helps improve the odds of you not crashing as everyone at some point will get distracted (spill, food, climate control, passenger, kid, illegal cell phone handling, etc.) and at the one moment you will be glad the car did not let you get out of your lane.

Then I also checked my other cars and my memory...every car forever has the speed to the right or the left of center way more often than not. This is why it never even occurred to me to even once think about how much better my life could have been if the speed was in the center of my screen in the MacheE. ?

I do wish that little middle car's tail lights would get brighter when the brake lights came on...always wanted feedback to see at which point with 1PD the brake lights went on.

Dude. I’m only around 5’8” and have the airbag squarely pointed at my face and chest. I made myself 12’ tall in the car, where my head was touching the glass, I could still clearly see the speedometer from inside the wheel.

I made a post about that a while ago. Got flamed because it was going to be distracting. ? Some people find something to complain about on any subject.
The car always there might be the first step to that.

I personally couldn’t care less about whether there are lights on the car graphic or not. The brake lights come on at a predetermined level of deceleration. That’s good enough for me.

Thanks, I know how to adjust the steering wheel. That's not the point. My point is why the hell do I want to look at a top down view of the car if I am not using any of the safety control systems. Also now, when you put the car in unbridled mode, all the cool graphics are push to the far corners of the screen, which again, is blocked by the steering wheel. That was a cool interface that they just ruined. All those graphics are barely noticeable. Especially the Whisper one.

Do a little a reading on the correlation between traffic jams and brake lights. I was driving behind a MME a year ago, and it looked like he tapped the brake every 10 seconds. I guess I like to be courteous, an not annoy people behind me and not cause a chain reaction.

I think what he is trying to tell you is that your airbag is pointing at your belly instead of your head. You might want to raise it a bit.
I don’t know how you have your wheel adjusted. See if the wheel being at least 10 inches away and pointed at your chest helps with the visibility of the dash.

I personally don’t care because I always have lane control on anyway. But it was a pointless change.
Not sure enough people hate it for ford to change back. I’m assuming most people have lane control on.

Maybe it’s Fords way of making people use lane control. By eliminating the advantages of having it off, you’ll keep it on. Like the enemy of my enemy is my friend sort of way. Or turn right to go left.

I hadn't noticed until a few days ago that it affects AA nav directions on the driver display too. Used to show an arrow, distance, and exit#. Now it just flashes for a second then wipes away. Bummer.

I'm the opposite. I'm 6'1 and like the seat high and wheel low so I can hold the bottom of the wheel with arms resting in my lap (when no traffic near me, of course). For me, the wheel blocks the upper corners, like the cruise control speed set.

I'd be surprised if they ever offer it, but a setting to chose from 2 or 3 driver screen layouts would be great. Like for high seating vs low seating.
