Ford Mustang Mach-E Is Ford still in the denial stage or have we moved on the acceptance stage?? 1000009010

The picture is at eye height but I did lower the steering wheel a bit for the picture. Normally I put it higher. But for medical reasons, maybe some prefer it lower?

Anyway, it definitely is personal preference as I chose the GC screen layout and it does have a heads up display that makes it very easy to see how fast I am going.

I vote for the option to give owners the ability to customize the display. That is one of the big benefits to having a display rather than a physical dash.

BTW - I totally expect the center speed to return with a future update. Hopefully before we all sell our cars...

Roughly this:

I can actually see a little bit more of the speedo and a bit more of the fuel gauge. If Ford just gets rid of some of that blank space by moving it a tad, I wouldn’t need to move my head. ?‍♂?
Looks like speed in the middle would also be obstructed here, considering that when in the center, the bottom of the speed numbers are relatively even with the bottom of the range numbers. Less obscured sure but still obscured.

Maybe AOSK can make a speedometer lift kit? :D

This is one of those threads that wants me to lurk in the Kia and Hyundai forums and see what they complain about with their cars.

I can understand better now considering I'm not very tall, It just seems like you'd have this problem in ANY car considering the spedo is off to the right in most every vehicle. Just the Mach-E has this problem eh?

Well hopefully regardless of how I feel, this post will be the push that makes Ford move towards UI customization considering there is so much debate about the topic. We just have to get Ford to redefine their version of 'soon' and maybe we will see a change within the life of the car.
exactly.... its not really the specific location of speedo that bugs me, its that we can't customize the display to put what we want where we want it.... or, have a customizable 'supplimental' display on the big center screen

I can 100% support this.

Maybe you will inadvertently get your wish once the new CarPlay is released as its supposed to let you customize multiple displays? Hopefully Ford supports it (and you have an iPhone, and what Apple is saying is even true)

I will have to wait for Android Auto to 'allow' one of the sensor display apps like CarScanner to be an approved app. I think all it would take is one of the phone App developers to 'port' their code to the AndroidAuto toolset.... but thats outside my wheelhouse

Do you work for Ford?? The speed was in one place when it was in the middle. It was consistent. It didn't move. Absolute speed is not really that important?? I'll quote you next time I get pulled over or the next time I'm going into a tight turn with a speed limit warning. You have to work for Ford. Your reasoning makes as much sense as Ford does.
The winging is hilarious!!

I'm not sure why people are saying the speed display is "obscured" by the steering wheel when it is displayed on the right. Maybe people need to make some adjustments to their seat or wheel. When I am driving my GT, the steering wheel barely obscures the upper top left and right corners of the display. There is absolutely zero useful dash information I can not see perfectly while driving, no matter where on the display it would appear. Maybe it is an issue for extremely tall or short drivers ?‍♂

With speed sign reading along with automatic speeding up or slowing down: The driver needs to easily see the new set speed with cruise control on. It is so tucked up in the upper right corner that the steering wheel blocks it. I've adjusted the seat and steering wheel so I can see it a little better, but I would prefer to adjust seat of steering wheel for my comfort. grrrrrrr.

And a chime announcing change in speed would be helpful.

of all things Mach e, the current position of the speedometer ranks as the absolute least important thing I have to deal with.

People are saying that because it's true for them. Read the thread.

Yeah I admit I skipped to the end after reading a few posts. I thought it was another 9 pages of whining about the speedometer moving to the right. I guess it still is, but justified for tall people.

You decide to move the speed to the right of the center screen and replace it with a static car that does nothing?? How long did the Ford team sit in a meeting to come up with this idea?? Lets see.............what would drivers need more??? Their speed?? No..... I have a better idea..... how about a static car that does nothing!!?? Thats it! Brilliant. Why stop there?? Put like 5 or 10 cars on the screen and get rid of the speed altogether!! Who needs the speed anyway?? Are you aware that Mach E owners actually brought their car in for service thinking that something was wrong?? Thats how bad of an idea this is. I'm curious now if the team is in the denial phase or the acceptance phase of what a dumb idea this was. If you have moved on the the acceptance phase, when will this be made right? There are enough other issues to deal with but looking for the speed should not be one of them.
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.
I was honestly a bit embarrassed when the first time I had a passenger in my car (that I just picked up last week so it came with this software version)... having seen all the cool youtube videos of the dash I was super excited before my first test-drive... those vibes quickly faded when I saw what looked like a 1990s photoshop/power-point presentation in the middle of my steering wheel. It didn't stop me from getting the car... but ONLY because I choose to have faith that Ford will correct this pathetic excuse for a "dashboard" with a future software update. Honestly it's ridiculously bad.
