Based on the list of serious issues the insurance company told you, I am stunned they haven't already totaled it. Mold, mildew, standing water, cracked undercarriage, damage around the battery? I mean seriously - WTF? Once the dust settles on this, I would be interested to know what insurance company this is. I sincerely hope they do the right thing.

Insurance adjuster called me this a.m. she noted mold spores and mildew smell. Damage to the seats and standing water, along with all the other stuff I noted in earlier posts, she also said the undercarriage is cracked and there's damage around the battery. However they can't assess it completely until they can get the car on a lift. They can't get the car on a lift because it has no key and the dealerships machine in Livermore is broken so they had to order from another dealer. Keys arriving tomorrow. Dealership body shop quoted keys $1341, theft recovery inspection $265, the back bumper, quarter panels, parking sensors and cameras $9791. I'll learn the rest tomorrow or Wednesday, hopefully.

With those numbers, I would be really surprised if they do not total it. There is just so many potential costs associated with this repair. I hope for your piece of mind they total it for you. I would not want that back.

I reread the beginning of this thread and tried to figure out how your car was stolen without the keys and im not clear on it, if the key was cloned, etc. But, can't you just FedEx your set of keys to the insurance adjuster?

They have my one fob. But it's not attached to the car anymore and they don't have the machine to reprogram so they just ordered 2 new ones.. I don't know how any of the electronic elements work, but the Ford guys said once there's a master reset they can block the keys or remove them from the system. I only know that he's told me.

Looks like the people that stole your car are not the only thieves in this Saga.

The battery alone will likely fetch them $10 - $15k in the aftermarket.

If I had to guess I'd say it's was 'kids' who found out how to relay from youtube, went bonkers and beer run'd a case of booze, drank and shit themselves, then got spooked and ran.

I'm definitely not going to get what I paid for the car since I bought it during the highest market value. But I don't want to get stuck not being able to purchase another vehicle?

Probably the best outcome given the situation. And with the prices but on new MMEs currently, hopefully it doesn’t even cost you much (if anything at all).

“Diminished value” claims are different. Thats when they fix your car but it’s arguably worth less because it’s been in an accident.

Total loss- you want enough money to buy another similar year similar car.
