New FordPass app? Not sure how I feel.

Can you elaborate?
Not the correct forum topic to dive into, but back to my original commentary I have nothing nice to say (period).

I am trying the beta. I no longer see a place to view my Ford Connected Charger (my at home level II Ford branded charger) from the app. Anyone know where this went? Way to support your own charger Ford!

Mmm, this might be a bit more narrow minded commentary. Personally, I think you’ll find a lot buying into commentary on wasted space on the Home Screen (myself included).

With that being said, having no scrolling or a fixed size on a Home Screen while accounting for ADA compliance (accessibility for users) is an entirely different topic. The user base is much broader than people think and the design language has to support that.

If someone wants to max out the text size on their screen, you’ll most definitely end up scrolling regardless.
Fair point, and the law is the law, but it always seems a bit silly trying to make driving functions ADA-compliant for the visually impaired.

I have a disability, too, and it involves apparently not having super-steady fingers while walking to my car. And the damned screen needs to stop moving.

Most likely that got dropped. They removed a lot of stuff because was too complicated or wasn’t going to be ready in time.

2 notes on that, the charger is unfortunately a 3rd party branded partnership charger (public knowledge) — what was there will likely be added though.

The old app exposed this functionality through a website because that’s what the charger exposes for controls/info. That website should always be accessible as a website.

Yes I knew it wasn't Ford's charger, and agreed it seems easy to link that web page back to the app or just launch it in a browser. The data is not even reliable but at least you can lock the charger when i am out of town so the idiots across the street don't try to charge up their hideous ionic 5 with my juice.

I'd argue the FordPass app isn't a driving function. Maybe you've granted a family member access so they can unlock the car to retrieve an item they forgot.

Performance and functionality have been prioritized almost everything else in this version of the application. Under the hood, it’s a completely different beastie in comparison to the old app/experience.

Mind you, there may be some form of “turd polishing” where hardware and software limitations of the vehicle itself are trying to be covered
Thanks for being here and giving us some more insight. I see your profile says you are "former" lead related to the Fordpass platform. I'm guessing you were involved in the latest (5.x) experience even if you are no longer in charge?

Do you have any insight on the FordPass Pro App that people in Europe (UK?) posted screenshots of around page 9 of this thread? Curious why they seem to have a different app with a completely different interface. Even if regulatory and Ford structural reasons result in a separate app being indicated, a unified interface and codebase would seem logical to me.

Also curious whether you can expand on some of the hardware/software limitations that the app tries to paper over for the car. For example, I repeatedly logged bugs related to PAAK and the wrong driver profile being loaded, and while the beta seems to be over the issue continues to occur. Is that an example of a car-software-related bug that the app is unable to fix by itself?

Do you have the latest (formerly beta) experience that's now starting to roll out? For me, on a Pixel 8 Pro phone, there's no scrolling at all. Also, the functions are "tap on" and "tap off," so no need to hold down a button to activate a function (like to unlock the car or start climate control).

That said, depending on your phone screen size and the size of your font, I'm sure it might scroll in some situations, but the tap on/off may be helpful to you even so.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to say this was my baby.

I do, it would.

Unsure tbh. Anything that's public domain knowledge is just that and can be verified by messing around with FORSCAN or the vehicle though. I can say that if you are adventurous you can probably figure it out. Vehicle profile stuff is going to be vehicle software tied.

I can say the app gets a lot of blame for things that aren't the app. The old app also got a lot of blame for things that absolutely were the old app's fault. The new app should mostly get blamed for more preference driven things + non-app things.

Yeah, I figured the vehicle software definitely plays a part, but I suspected maybe the app also played a part because the bug only manifests when PAAK is active. When I unlink my phone as a PAAK device the profile bug never triggers.
